Cedar Crest Softball Swept by Griffins

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 GWYNEDD VALLEY, Pa. --- The Cedar Crest College softball lost a Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) game, 5-4, to Gwynedd Mercy University Friday afternoon. Game 2 was made up on April 18, where the Falcons fell 7-3 to suffer a sweep to the Griffins. Cedar Crest now has a record of 14-14 overall and 7-7 in CSAC action.

In game one, Cedar Crest allowed 3 1st-inning runs, before the Black and Yellow countered with 4 runs of their own in the top of the 2nd inning. Junior Center fielder Brittney Bonser (Kunkletown, Pa./Pleasant Valley) doubled to left field, scoring two runs. Senior catcher Molly Schnaubelt (San Diego, CA/University City) would drive two more runs with a double of her own. Schnaubelt ended the game going 3-for-4 while Bonser went 2-for-4. Sophomore right fielder Courtney Constable (East Bangor, PA/Bangor Area) contributed two hits and was walked in the contest, ending the day 2-for-2.

Starting in the circle in game one was sophomore Breanna Young (Easton, Pa./Wilson Area), who pitched a complete game of 6.0 innings, allowed 8 hits and gave up four earned runs. Young received the loss in the decision and put her season record at 3-4.

Game two was postponed due to rain after the first two innings were played, the Falcons resumed the game trailing 2-0. The Black and Yellow would give up three runs in the third inning as the deficit was now 5-0. It was the 6th inning when Cedar Crest would get runs on the board, off of a Young double down the right field line to score freshman Patricia Dalton (Northampton, Pa./Northampton Area) and sophomore Dallas Horning (Bethlehem, Pa./Liberty). Constable would them hit a single to center to score Young from second base to but the lead to 5-3. The Falcons would give up two more runs in the bottom half of the 6th which would put the game at its final score of 7-3.

The Falcons are scheduled to play their Senior Day against Marywood University on Friday, April 20. First pitch is set for 3:00 PM.
