ASTON, Pa. --- The Cedar Crest College softball squad dropped their first two Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) games of the year to Neumann University Thursday evening.

The Falcons, now 6-6 on the year, were swept by the Knights, 8-3 in game one and a 4-3 walk-off in game two.

In game one, Cedar Crest allowed 4 1st-inning runs, but would give up 4 more run by the 4th inning, giving Neumann an 8-0 lead before the Black and Yellow would get a run on the board. Senior catcher Molly Schnaubelt (San Diego, CA/University City) would drive in the first run in the 5th inning and another one in the 7th with a double to put the score at 82. Schnaubelt ended the game 3-for-4 with two RBIs and scoring a run as well. Sophomore infielder Dallas Horning (Bethlehem, Pa./Liberty) plated Schnaubelt, which was her lone hit of the game while freshman first baseman Patricia Dalton (Northampton, Pa./Northampton Area) ended the game going 2-for-4 in the 8-3 loss.

Starting in the circle in game one was sophomore Breanna Young (Easton, Pa./Wilson Area), who pitched a complete game of 6.0 innings, allowed 11 hits and gave up seven earned runs. Young received the loss in the decision and put her season record at 3-3.

Game two started out similar for Cedar Crest, giving up two runs in the 1st inning. The Black and Yellow would take the lead in the top of the 4th, where freshman third baseman Danielle Krispin (Tunkhannock, Pa./Tunkhannock) reached on a dropped fly ball which allowed junior left fielder Aimee Sarboukh (Somerset, N.J./Bound Brook) and Dalton to score, then a throwing error on the same play allowed Krispin to score as well. The Falcons had a 3-2 lead until, in the bottom half of the 4th, Neumann was able to get another run across the plate to tie it at 3-3. The Falcons would unfortunately fall in the contest 4-3, as the Knights scored the game-winning run in the 7th inning, scoring on a throwing error.

In circle in game two was sophomore Kendra Pekurny (Kunkletown, PA/Palmerton Area), who pitched 6.1 innings, striking out two batters and giving up 3 earned runs, having a record of 1-1 on the year.

The Falcons are heading to Gwynedd Mercy University on Friday, March 30 with first pitch of the double header to begin at 12:00 PM and the second game at 2:00 PM.
