LA PLUME, Pa. --- The Cedar Crest College Tennis team grabbed a victory from Keystone College Friday evening by a final score of 6-3. The Falcons are now 4-4 overall and have a 3-1 record in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) action.
In doubles action, the Black and Yellow managed to take two out of three points. Junior
Kassaundra Blodgett and freshman
Ashley Wilkins defeated the Giants at 3rd doubles 8-0 for the first point of the match. Senior
Taylor Doran and junior
Kristina Litonjua were unable to win their point at 1st doubles, falling 8-1. Junior
Beth Kistler and sophomore
Alyssa Epsarro were at 2nd doubles and managed to come out victorious, 8-3 to put the match score at 2-1 in favor of Cedar Crest.
Freshman
Katherine Naples and sophomore
Andrea Abdale  were the first two singles players to finish, both sweeping their opponents (6-0), (6-0) to put the Falcons up 4-1 over Keystone for the time being.
Doran fell in 1st singles (6-1), (6-1) to cut lead to 4-2, then
Epsaro took down her opponent in the 4th spot, (6-3), (6-1) to put the Black and Yellow up 5-2 and clinching the win. The last two singles matches went into a third set tie breaker, where
Kistler defeated her opponent in the 3rd spot (6-1), (4-6), and (1-0), winning the tie-break (10-7).
Litonjua battled in 2nd singles, but ultimately falling in the two spot (5-7), (6-4), (1-0 (6-10)).
The Falcons will return to action Saturday, March 31 at 1:00 PM as they host CSAC opponent Gwynedd Mercy University in Allentown.
