Box Score 2 ROSEMONT, Pa. --- The Cedar Crest College softball squad swept Rosemont College in a Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) double header. The Falcons took game one 5-1 and game two by a score of 8-3 to improve their overall record 16-15 and now 10-8 in conference play.
In game one, The Falcons scored all of their runs in the first two innings, one in the 1
st and four in the 2
nd to put Cedar Crest ahead of Rosemont 5-0. The Ravens scored in the bottom of the 4
th inning and that would end the scoring for game one, putting the final score at 5-1.
Senior catcher
Molly Schnaubelt (San Diego, CA/University City) went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs. Sophomore third baseman
Dallas Horning (Bethlehem, Pa./Liberty) had gone 1-for-4 but drove in two runs and scored a run. .Senior
Kaylee Martinez (Hemet, CA/West Valley) and sophomore center fielder
Courtney Constable (East Bangor, PA/Bangor Area) each ended 1-for-3,
Martinez scored two runs and
Constable crossed the plate once.
Getting the start in the circle in game one was sophomore
Kendra Pekurny (Kunkletown, PA/Palmerton Area), who pitched a complete game, allowing six hits and giving up the only run, striking out four batters.
Pekurny earned the win and her record improves to 6-5 on the year.
Game two started with a scoreless first inning, but in the top of the 2
nd, Cedar Crest would score two unearned runs to take the lead 2-0. Rosemont would score three runs in the 3
rd inning to steal the lead 3-2. The Falcons would tally two runs in the 5
th and four in the 6
th inning to take the lead and not look back where they would hold on for the 8-3 victory.
Sophomore pitcher
Breanna Young (Easton, Pa./Wilson Area) would record one hit in four at bats and scored and drove in a run for Cedar Crest. Senior
Jackie Gallagher (Fort Worth, TX/Keller Central ) would turn in a 3-for-4 in the game, also scored a run and hit an RBI.
Martinez, Constable and junior right fielder
Aimee Sarboukh (Somerset, N.J./Bound Brook) would each record two hits in the contest.
Martinez scored twice and plated a runner,
Constable had two RBIs and
Sarboukh would cross the plate for one of the Falcons runs.
Young, who also pitched a complete game of 7.0 innings, allowed five hits and gave one earned run while striking out four Ravens in the game.
Young improves to 9-8 on the season.
The Falcons host the Lehman College Lightning in a non-conference double header on Monday, April 23, for the last pair of home games of the 2018 season. First pitch is scheduled for 3:00 PM.
