Box Score 2 RADNOR, Pa. --- The Cedar Crest College softball squad suffered two losses in a CSAC double-header to Cabrini University on Saturday afternoon. The Falcons, now 17-17 on the year and sit at 10-10 in the CSAC, were swept by the Cavaliers 3-2 in game one and then fell 9-5 in game two.
In game one, Cedar Crest gave up a home run in the bottom of the 2
nd inning to give the Cavaliers a 1-0 lead. The Falcons would score two unearned runs in the top of the 6
th inning to get in front of Cabrini, but the Cavaliers would regain the lead for in the bottom half of the inning and would win the game 3-2.
Senior shortstop
Kaylee Martinez (Hemet, CA/West Valley) and sophomore third baseman
Dallas Horning (Bethlehem, Pa./Liberty) each finished game one 2-for-4. Freshman second baseman
Riley Tremblay (Allentown, Pa./Parkland) went 1-for-4, scoring a run and drove in a run while junior right fielder
Aimee Sarboukh (Somerset, N.J./Bound Brook) also had an RBI. Senior catcher
Molly Schnaubelt (San Diego, CA/University City) scored the other Falcons' run and had a double.
In circle in game one was sophomore
Kendra Pekurny (Kunkletown, PA/Palmerton Area), who pitched 6.0 innings, giving up three earned runs and seven hits, having a record of 6-6 on the year.
Game two started with Cabrini scoring a run in the 1
st and 2
nd inning to take a 2-0 lead. The top of the 3
rd inning started with the 2-run double to tie the game up at 2-2. Cedar Crest gave up five runs in the 4
th inning that would give the Cavaliers the lead for good, at 7-2. The Black and Yellow would cut into the lead in the 5
th, scoring three runs, trailing 7-5. Cabrini would extend their lead to the final score, 9-5 in the bottom of the 5
th.
Horning and senior designated player
Jackie Gallagher (Fort Worth, TX/Keller Central ) each contributed 2 RBIs each with
Horning scoring a run as well.
Schnaubelt plated the other Falcon run in the game.
Martinez scored two runs on one hit while sophomore center fielder
Courtney Constable (East Bangor, PA/Bangor Area) had two hits in three at bats and scored a run.
Starting in the circle in game two was sophomore
Breanna Young (Easton, Pa./Wilson Area), who pitched 6.0 innings, giving up eight earned runs, 13 hits and two strikeouts.
Young received the loss in the decision and put her season record at 9-9.
The Falcons are heading to Cairn University for the season finale of the regular season on Monday, April 30 beginning at 3 PM. This double-header was originally scheduled for April 27, but was postponed due to weather.
