Falcons Bats Come Alive Sweeping Clarks Summit in Home-Opener

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Allentown, Pa. --- The Cedar Crest College softball team swept their daytime double-header versus Clarks Summit University Friday afternoon with a pair of 5-inning games. The Falcons, now 9-8 on the year, after pair of 15-3 and 17-4 victories, they are also 3-4 in Colonial States Athletic Conference action.

In game one, Cedar Crest allowed 2 1st-inning runs and the Black and Yellow were able to cut the lead in half after inning number one. Cedar Crest would plate 5 2nd-inning runs to take the lead and not let go of it. The Defenders would add one more run in the top-half of the 4th before the flood gates opened and the Falcons poured on 9 runs in the 4th frame to put the score at the final, 15-3.
Leading the way in game one was freshman third baseman Danielle Krispin (Tunkhannock, Pa./Tunkhannock) went 3-for-4, scoring three runs and bringing in two RBIs. Junior left fielder Aimee Sarboukh (Somerset, N.J./Bound Brook) and senior designated player Jackie Gallagher (Fort Worth, TX/Keller Central ) each contributed three RBIs and scored twice. Freshman first baseman Patricia Dalton (Northampton, Pa./Northampton Area) and sophomore shortstop Dallas Horning (Bethlehem, Pa./Liberty) went 2-for-3 with Dalton scoring twice and plating two and Horning driving in three and scoring once for the Falcons.

Starting in the circle in game one was sophomore Breanna Young (Easton, Pa./Wilson Area), who pitched a complete game of 5.0 innings, allowed five hits and gave up two earned runs. Young received the win in the decision and put her season record at 4-5.

Game two started out with a 1-0 lead after the 1st. Clarks Summit would tie it briefly in the top of the 2nd, but the Falcons would touch the plate four times in the 2nd to regain the lead 5-1. Cedar Crest would have six runners cross home plate in each of the next two innings to extend their lead to 17-3 and would claim the victory in 5 innings.

Both Bonser and Krispin would each go 2-for-4 and drive in four RBIs as Bonser scored three times and Krispin twice. Senior catcher Molly Schnaubelt (San Diego, CA/University City) went 4-for-4 and scoring a run in the contest while Gallagher ended 2-for-2 with three scored runs, two RBIs and a walk. Freshman second baseman Riley Tremblay (Allentown, Pa./Parkland) went 2-for-4 contributing two runs scored and an RBI while sophomore right fielder Courtney Constable (East Bangor, PA/Bangor Area) scored three runs for the Falcons.

In circle in game two was sophomore Kendra Pekurny (Kunkletown, PA/Palmerton Area), who pitched 5.0 innings, allowing 10 hits and giving up four earned runs, putting her record at 3-1 on the year.

The Falcons are scheduled for another home CSAC double-header on Saturday, April 7 when Cedar Crest welcomes the Notre Dame of Maryland to Blaschak Field for a daytime double-header beginning at 1:00 pm and 3:00 pm.
