Box Score 2 Hackettstown, N.J. --- The Cedar Crest College softball squad split their daytime double-header with the Cyclones from Centenary University Thursday afternoon. The Falcons were playing as the home team, with it originally being scheduled to play in Allentown, but field conditions permitted the game to be played at Legion Field.
The Falcons, now 7-8 on the year, dropped game one to the Cyclone 13-9 and then defeated Centenary 11-3 in game two.
In game one, Cedar Crest scored 2 1st-inning runs. Senior catcher
Molly Schnaubelt (San Diego, CA/University City) would drive in the first run and freshman second baseman
Riley Tremblay (Allentown, Pa./Parkland) would single through the right side to put the score at 2-0. Freshman third baseman
Danielle Krispin (Tunkhannock, Pa./Tunkhannock) would drive in a RBI in the 3rd to extend the Falcons lead to 3-0, but then the Cyclones bats came alive. Centenary would score 5 runs in the 5th, 2 in the 6th and 6 more in the 7th. Sophomore infielder
Dallas Horning (Bethlehem, Pa./Liberty) plated a run in the bottom of the 6th and the Falcons would get 5 more in the 7th before dropping game one 13-9.
Schnaubelt ended the game 2-for-4 with three RBIs and while junior left fielder
Aimee Sarboukh (Somerset, N.J./Bound Brook) brought home two RBIs and score a run as well.
Starting in the circle in game one was sophomore
Breanna Young (Easton, Pa./Wilson Area), who pitched a complete game of 7.0 innings, allowed 13 hits and gave up six earned runs.
Young received the loss in the decision and put her season record at 3-5.
Game two started out with a blast as
Schnaubelt hit a 3- run home run to deep left-center field to give the Falcons a 3-0 lead in the first inning. The Black and Yellow would then put 6 runs on the board in the 3rd, where senior
Olivia Lopez (Brandywine, Mary./Gwynn Park), sophomore right fielder
Courtney Constable (East Bangor, PA/Bangor Area), junior
Brittney Bonser (Kunkletown, Pa./Pleasant Valley),
Sarboukh and
Krispin each drove in a run. That big inning put Cedar Crest up 9-0. Centenary would score their first run in the top of the 4th, but the Falcons would get two more across the plate of the bat of
Constable and a
Bonser walk. The Cyclones managed to get 2 more runs on the board in the 5th, but Cedar Crest would claim the win in 5 innings, 11-3.
Bonser and
Sarboukh each went 3-for-3, with
Bonser getting two RBIs and two runs scored while
Sarboukh plated one and scored two.
Horning and
Lopez each finished game two 2-for-3 in the win.
In circle in game two was sophomore
Kendra Pekurny (Kunkletown, PA/Palmerton Area), who pitched 5.0 innings, giving up two earned runs, having a record of 2-1 on the year.
The Falcons will finally have their home-opener Friday, April 6 versus Clarks Summit University, for a daytime double-header beginning at 3:00 pm at Blaschak Field in Allentown.
