Falcons Softball Faces Off with Immaculata in First Round of CSAC Playoffs May 2

ALLENTOWN, Pa. --- The Cedar Crest Softball team clinched the 6th and final spot of the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) Monday after defeating Cairn University in Game 1 of their double-header, 10-2. The Falcons would go on to sweep the Highlanders in Game 2 to end the regular season with a 19-17 record and a CSAC record of 12-10.

Cedar Crest will travel to Immaculata University Wednesday, May 2 to battle with the Mighty Macs at 4 PM. It is single elimination for the First Round. Winner advances to the CSAC Playoff Tournament that is set for Friday, May 4 and Saturday, May 5.

In their previous meeting this year, it was also played at the Mighty Macs and the Falcons were swept, falling in game 1, 8-7 and Game 2, 12-4. For more on that double-header, click HERE for the recap and box scores.

This is the third consecutive year the the Cedar Crest College Softball squad has made it to the postseason, (2016, 2017 and now 2018) falling in the first round last season to Cabrini University 10-5. In 2016, the Black and Yellow defeated Gwynedd Mercy 10-5 in the first round, but ultimately lost in the semi-finals to Neumann University by a final score 12-3.

This season, the Falcons have a .386 batting average, a .507 slugging percentage and have driven in 298 RBIs. Senior catcher Molly Schnaubelt (San Diego, CA/University City) sits at 1st in the conference for Runs Batted In and Sacrifice Flys, 3rd for doubles, 5th for hits and 7th in batting average. Multiple Falcons have their names in the top 10 in multiple other categories, including: Runs Scored, Hits and RBIs. Freshman second baseman Riley Tremblay (Allentown, Pa./Parkland) leads the conference with most at bats for the regular season with 134, four at bats ahead of second place.
