Softball stays unbeated in CSAC with sweep of Notre Dame

ALLENTOWN, Pa. --- The Cedar Crest College Softball squad swept conference opponent, Notre Dame of Maryland, in a Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) double-header on Blaschak Field Saturday afternoon. The Falcons improve to 8-11 overall and 4-0 in the CSAC with today's victories.
 
The Black and Yellow scored four runs in the opening inning, followed by six in the second and one more in the third inning for Game 1 to end in five innings with an 11-1 victory.
 
Four Falcons record two hit performances in the first game, starting with freshman Skyler Bilous (Schnecksville, Pa./Parkland), who went 2-for-3, hitting two doubles, scoring two runs and driving in an RBI. Junior Nicole Santaniello (Kissimmee, Fl./Osceola) also went 2-for-3, blasting her third homerun of the season, scoring twice and plated two runners. Sophomores Patricia Dalton (Northampton, Pa./Northampton Area) and Riley Tremblay (Allentown, Pa./Parkland) were also 2-for-3 in the game, combining for five RBIs, two doubles and scored three runs.
 
Starting the game in the circle was junior Breanna Young (Easton, Pa./Wilson Area), who pitched 3.0 innings, faced 14 batters, allowed one earned run on five hits. Freshman Lillian Boltz (Levittown, Pa./Pennsbury) enter the game in relief, pitched 2.0 innings, struck out two batters and did not allow a hit in the seven batters she faced. Young earned the victory and improves to 4-5 on the year.
 
Game 2 started off with one runs scored for Cedar Crest in the first and second innings, giving the Falcons a 2-0 lead after two innings of work. The Black and Yellow would add two more in the fourth and three more in the sixth to put the score at 7-0. The Gators would score two runs in the top of the seventh, but not able to cut the deficit any further and Cedar Crest completed the sweep over Notre Dame, 7-2.
 
Senior Brittney Bonser (Kunkletown, Pa./Pleasant Valley) had herself a game, going a perfect 4-for-4, with a double, scoring twice and driving in three RBIs in the victory. Santaniello and Dalton each turned in two-hit games, Santaniello scored and plated a runner as Dalton hit a double. Junior Dallas Horning (Bethlehem, Pa./Liberty), Bilous and Tremblay each reached on doubles and scored a combined four runs and two RBIs.
 
Bilous went the distance in Game 2, pitching a complete game, allowing two runs, none earned, on five hits and struck out three Gators. Bilous received the win and improves to 4-3 on the season.
 
The Falcons head to Marywood University on Tuesday, April 2 for a non-conference double-header. First-pitch of Game 1 is scheduled for 3:00 PM in Scranton, Pa.
