ALLENTOWN, Pa. --- The Cedar Crest College softball team came from behind to claim both games of the non-conference doubleheader with Penn State Brandywine on Cynthia L. Blaschak Field Tuesday afternoon. The Falcons improve to 13-18 on the season with a pair of victories.

Game 1 was scoreless for three innings before the Nittany Lions got on the board with a solo homerun. It would go to the bottom of the seventh, and the Falcons had a pinch-hit single to right field by freshman
Stephanie Herpel (Allentown, Pa./Parkland) that plated one Falcon, tying the game 1-1. Junior
Nicole Santaniello (Kissimmee, Fl./Osceola) would hit a walk-off single to right-center field that scored sophomore
Danielle Krispin (Tunkhannock, Pa./Tunkhannock) as the game-winning run, 2-1.

Two Falcons recorded two-hit performances, senior
Aimee Sarboukh (South Bound Brook, N.J./Bound Brook) and
Santaniello. Sarboukh went 2-for-3 and scored a run, as
Santaniello recorded the game-winning hit for one of her two hits, including a RBI to defeat the Nittany Lions in Game 1.

Junior
Breanna Young (Easton, Pa./Wilson Area) got the start in Game 1, throwing a complete game (7.0 innings), allowing just one earned run on seven hits and struck out three batters out of the 27 she faced.
Young earned the victory in the decision and improves to 5-8 on the year.

In Game 2, Penn State Brandywine would strike first, scoring one in the first, but the Black and Yellow would counter with two runs of their own, to take a 2-1 lead into the second. The Falcons would add another in the bottom of the second to extend their lead to 3-1, but the Nittany Lions would pile on three runs in the third to take the 4-3 lead. The Brandywine lead would not last long, as Cedar Crest would put up two more runs in the bottom of the third to regain the lead at 5-4. Two more Falcon runs crossed the plate in the fifth to push the lead to 7-4, but Penn State Brandywine would manage to score two more in the top of the sixth inning to cut the lead to one, 7-6. The Black and Yellow would add an insurance run in the bottom half of the sixth, extending their lead to two, 8-6 which would hold as the final score.

Five Falcons had multi-hit games, including sophomore
Patricia Dalton (Northampton, Pa./Northampton Area) and
Santaniello who recorded three base-hits.
Dalton went a perfect 3-for-3, scoring twice and drove in a run as
Santaniello went 3-for-4 with a homerun, two RBIs and two runs scored. Freshman
Delaney VanBuskirk (Bridgeville, Del./Woodbridge), sophomore
Riley Tremblay (Allentown, Pa./Parkland) and
Sarboukh turned in two-hits performances for the Black and Yellow.
VanBuskirk doubled and scored a run while plating two as
Tremblay crossed the plate once.
Sarboukh drove in a runner for one of the eight runs that the Falcons scored.

Three pitchers toed the rubber in Game 2, starting with junior
Kendra Pekurny (Kunkletown, PA/Palmerton Area), who threw for 2.1 innings, allowed four runs, one earned, off of four hits and struck out a batter in the 18 she faced.
Young entered in relief and got Cedar Crest out of the third inning, going 0.2 innings, facing just one batter and not allowing a hit. Freshman
Skyler Bilous (Schnecksville, Pa./Parkland) was summoned in the fourth inning and pitched the remainder of the game, throwing 4.0 innings, allowed two earned runs off of six hits, facing 19 batters.
Bilous improves to 7-6 overall after earning the win.

The Falcons are back in action tomorrow, April 17 when Centenary University comes to Allentown for a CSAC doubleheader. First-pitch is scheduled for 3:00 PM on Blaschak Field
