Falcons sweeps Clarks Summit on Senior Day

ALLENTOWN, Pa. --- The Cedar Crest Softball team defeated Clarks Summit University in a pair of Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) games on Thursday afternoon at Blaschak Field. The Falcons improve to 16-21 on the year and 8-4 in CSAC action.
 
Between Game 1 and 2, Cedar Crest celebrated their two graduating seniors, Brittney Bonser (Kunkletown, Pa./Pleasant Valley) and Aimee Sarboukh (South Bound Brook, N.J./Bound Brook), who played their final home games in a Falcons uniform.
 
The Defenders took a one-run lead in their first at-bats, but the Black and Yellow would plate four runners in the first and then four more in the second inning to take a commanding 8-1 lead. Clarks Summit would get one back in the third, but Cedar Crest would answer in the bottom half of the fourth with two runs of their own, putting the game at its final score, 10-2.
 
Five different Falcons recorded multi-hit games with Riley Tremblay (Allentown, Pa./Parkland) and Delaney VanBuskirk (Bridgeville, Del./Woodbridge) each had three-hit performances. VanBuskirk went 3-for-3 with a double, two RBIs and a run scored as Tremblay drove in two Falcons. Nicole Santaniello (Kissimmee, Fl./Osceola), Dallas Horning (Bethlehem, Pa./Liberty) and Sarboukh each had two base hits, with Santaniello hitting her seventh homerun, driving in three runners and scoring two of her own. Horning hit a double and scored twice as Sarboukh drove in an RBI and scored a run. Ashley Heller (Allentown, Pa./Parkland), Patricia Dalton (Northampton, Pa./Northampton Area) and Rachel Savini (Wilmington, Del./Delaware Military Academy) also reached on a base hits and saw Savini recorded two steals in the game.
 
Getting the start in Game 1 was Lillian Boltz (Levittown, Pa./Pennsbury), who threw a complete game, allowed two runs, one earned, off six hits. Boltz struck out two of the 20 batters she went up against and received the win, putting her record at 1-1 this season.
 
After a scoreless inning, Cedar Crest had six Falcons cross the plate in the second inning, to take a 6-0 lead. The Black and Yellow added one more in the third and two more in the fourth to put the final score at 9-0.
 
Tremblay was the lone-Falcon to reach base multiple times, going 2-for-3, hitting a double, scoring once and plating a runner. Six other Falcons recorded a hit in the game, including the homerun hit by Danielle Krispin (Tunkhannock, Pa./Tunkhannock) in the third inning, her first of the season. Dalton and Santaniello also hit a double in Game 2.
 
Breanna Young (Easton, Pa./Wilson Area) got the ball to start Game 2 and pitched a complete game, throwing for five innings, giving up three hits, no runs and struck out five of the 18 batters she faced. Young improves to 5-9 on the year after earning the win.
 
Cedar Crest will play their last game of the 2019 regular season on Saturday, April 27 when they travel to Cairn University. First-pitch is scheduled for 12:00 PM.
