CSAC Championship: No. 1 Cedar Crest Welcomes in No. 2 NDMU Saturday (1 PM)

ALLENTOWN, Pa. – The top-seeded Cedar Crest College volleyball team has advanced to the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) Championship match for the second time in the last three years as there was no 2020 fall season due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Falcons will host second-seeded Notre Dame of Maryland University at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 6. This marks a rematch of the 2019 CSAC Championship match. Here's a preview of the contest:

The Matchup


Cedar Crest currently possesses an overall record of 19-5 while they finished the regular season with a conference record of 9-0. NDMU comes into the match with an overall record of 14-11 with a conference record of 8-1. In the regular season meeting between these two teams, the Falcons defeated the Gators in four sets, by scores of 25-16, 25-11, 16-25, 25-18 (RECAP).

The Gators come into the CSAC Championship match after a 3-0 sweep of No. 3 Wilson in the semifinals. Junior Gabbi Taganas (Perry Hall, Md.) led the offensive attack with eight kills, while senior Angel Carino (Parkville, Md.) tallied 17 digs. NDMU won by scores of 25-15, 25-20, 25-20.

The Falcons have advanced to the Championship match after sweeping No. 4 Cairn, 3-0, in their semifinal match. Leading the attack were
freshman Alexis Cummins (Stafford, Va./Colonial Forge), sophomore Ava Grapsy (Macungie, Pa./Allentown Central Catholic), and junior Kelsee Schouppe (Stroudsburg, Pa./Stroudsburg), who posted 10 kills each. Cedar Crest won by scores of 25-8, 25-11, 25-13.

Up Next

The winner of the match will earn an automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Tournament, for which seedings, locations, and times will be announced on Monday.
