ALLENTOWN, Pa. – The Cedar Crest College tennis team opened the 2021-22 season with a 9-0 loss to Muhlenberg on Saturday afternoon at the Cedar Crest Tennis Courts.

The Mules swept their way to their first win of the season and improved to 1-0 overall while the Falcons slip to 0-1. Muhlenberg opened the contest by winning all three doubles matches before cruising to victories in singles action.

The Mules first doubles tandem of junior Caroline Maglaras (New Providence, N.J.) and senior Caroline Armknecht (Scottsdale, Ariz.) blanked the Falcon duo of Katherine Franzone () and Maya Narasimhan (Scotch Plains, N.J./Scotch Plains Fanwood), 8-0. Senior Maria Stere (Hamburg, N.J.) and sophomore Sophia Framm (Owings Mills, Md.) paired up at No. 2 doubles for an 8-6 victory over Sasha Singh (Breinigsville, Pa./Parkland) and Lily Spagnola (Barnegat, N.J./Barnegat) while junior Malin Hermanson (Annville, Pa.) and sophomore Stephanie Wolff (Belmar, N.J.) took down Isabel Sandone (Westmont, N.J./Haddon Township) and Sam Henson (Waterbury, Conn./W.F. Keynor Technical) at third doubles by an 8-6 score.

Muhlenberg cruised in singles play, only dropping 12 games in the six matches.

Cedar Crest returns to the courts on Sunday, October 3 at Moravian University with the match scheduled to begin at noon.
