ALLENTOWN, Pa. – Cedar Crest College swept through doubles and singles play in a 9-0 victory over Notre Dame of Maryland University on Wednesday afternoon in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) women's tennis action at the Cedar Crest Tennis Courts.
In doubles play, the Falcons cruised to 8-2 win at the No. 1 position behind the play of senior
Maya Narasimhan (Scotch Plains, N.J./Scotch Plains Fanwood) and sophomore
Katherine Franzone (). Sophomores
Sam Henson (Waterbury, Conn./W.F. Keynor Technical) and
Lily Spagnola (Barnegat, N.J./Barnegat) captured the point at No. 2 with an 8-1 victory. Junior
Sasha Singh (Breinigsville, Pa./Parkland) and freshman
Brittany Schultz (Bethlehem, Pa./Liberty ) earned the No. 3 doubles point by default.
With the 3-0 lead after doubles, Cedar Crest picked up victories in straight sets in all six singles matches. Narasimhan blanked freshman Mackenzie Lookingland (Baltimore, Md.) 6-0 and 6-0 at the top spot. Henson also earned a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 4 over April Boss. Singh got the point at No. 3 with identical 6-2, 6-2 scores over freshman Tam Troung. Franzone defeated freshman Emma Mueller (Irrigon, Ore.) by set scores of 6-0 and 7-5 at No. 2. Spagnola and Schultz earned wins at No. 5 and No. 6, respectively, by default.
Cedar Crest (7-4 overall, 5-0 CSAC) will close regular season play at Cairn University on Saturday, April 23 at noon. NDMU returns to action at home against Clarks Summit University on Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
