Softball Nabs Top CSAC Honors & Nine All-Conference Spots

ALLENTOWN, Pa. – Cedar Crest College won two major awards and had a total of nine players named to All-Conference teams by the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) on Wednesday afternoon as the league announced its annual softball honors.

Graduate student Riley Tremblay (Allentown, Pa./Parkland) was named CSAC Player of the Year, becoming the second-straight Cedar Crest player to earn the conference's top honor. Freshman Alexis Kline (Allentown, Pa./Lehigh Valley Academy Regional Charter) was recognized as the CSAC Rookie of the Year.

Tremblay earned a spot on the All-Conference First Team while Kline landed on the Second Team. Joining Tremblay on the First Team was graduate student Nicole Santaniello (Kissimmee, Fla./Osceola), senior Delaney VanBuskirk (Bridgeville, Del./Woodbridge), junior Renee Snyder (Allentown, Pa./Parkland), and junior Brianna Lankford (Hanover, Pa./South Western Senior).

Kline was the lone Falcon on Second Team while senior Lillian Boltz (Levittown, Pa./Pennsbury) and sophomore Corinne Mundy (Philadelphia, Pa./The Arts Academy at Benjamin Rush) were both collected All-CSAC Honorable Mention nods. Graduate student Ashley Heller (Allentown, Pa./Parkland) rounded out the Cedar Crest selections as the Falcons' member on the All-Sportsmanship Team. All awards were determined by a vote of the league's head coaches.

Tremblay, Cedar Crest's starting catcher, receives Player of the Year honors following an impressive campaign. She tallied 50 hits and 41 RBI, both good for tops in the league. Her .431 batting average ranks sixth. She also sports an OPS of 1.114, which places top-five in the conference. Tremblay also tallied eight doubles, six triples, three home runs and 79 total bases. Additionally, she scored 46 runs and had three stolen bases while starting all 31 regular season games. In the field, she sported a .922 fielding percentage and caught six runners stealing.  

Kline had a standout first-year with the Falcons, which earned her CSAC Rookie of the Year accolades and a Second Team selection. She started in 30 games and batted .337 with 32 hits, six doubles, a team-high four home runs, 20 RBI, 50 total bases, and 30 runs scored. In the field as the primary shortstop, Kline had a .943 fielding percentage.

Santaniello is a repeat First Team selection for Cedar Crest. She appeared in all 31 games, making 30 starts. The graduate student registered a .378 batting average and an OPS of 1.007. Santaniello also recorded 42 hits, 14 doubles, one triple, three home runs, 28 RBI, 67 total bases, and 34 runs scored. She also was a perfect 8-for-8 on stolen base attempts and sported a .981 fielding percentage.

VanBuskirk started in all 31 games and held a .438 batting average and OPS of .980 en route to a First Team nod.  The senior also collected 46 hits, six doubles, one home run, 29 RBI, 55 total bases, and 17 runs scored. VanBuskirk's numbers continue with two stolen bases while also had a fielding percentage of .932.

Snyder is the Falcons' fourth member on First Team. The junior saw time in 29 games while making 28 starts. She recorded a batting average of .431 and an OPS of .948. Snyder also collected 44 hits, six doubles, 26 RBI, 50 total bases, and 31 runs scored. She also had three stolen bases. In the field, she had a .980 fielding percentage.

Lankford was Cedar Crest's final First Team selection. The junior appeared in 19 games, making 18 starts. She finished the regular season with a .466 batting average to go along with 27 hits, four doubles, two triples, one home run, 22 total bases, and 19 runs scored. Lankford was perfect in the field with a 1.000 fielding percentage.

Boltz and Mundy were two of 12 players named All-CSAC Honorable Mention. Boltz closed the regular season with a 6-3 record in the circle. She tossed seven complete games and 65.2 innings to go along with 15 strikeouts in 14 total appearances.

Mundy recorded a team-high 10 wins in the circle. She pitched 84 innings and collected 41 strikeouts to go along with nine complete games and two shutouts.

Heller land on the All-Sportsmanship Team to round out the honorees for the Falcons. The graduate student started in 13 games. She had a batting average of .455 and an OPS of 1.029. Heller also had 20 hits, one triple, four RBI, 22 total bases, and 14 runs scored. She also had two stolen bases and a fielding percentage of .929.
