ST. MARY'S CITY, Md. – The Cedar Crest College swimming team has completed two days of competition at the Atlantic East Conference Championships and remains in sixth place, accumulating 192 points.
The finals session began with the 200-yard medley relay. The team of senior
Abbey Mower (Manahawkin, N.J./Southern Regional), sophomore
Taylor Davis (Wilmington, Del./Newark), senior
Rachael Alulis (Whitehall, Pa./Whitehall), and junior
Megan Fiedler (Woodbridge, Va./Woodbridge Senior) took sixth with a time of 2:12.20.
Mower and Alulis were back in the pool for the A-final of the 400-yard individual medley, finishing sixth (5:31.26) and seventh (5:34.65), respectively.
Junior
Corrine McClain (Willingboro, N.J./Holy Cross Preparatory Academy) and first-year
Madison Smith (Nazareth, Pa./Nazareth Area) were the representatives for the Falcons in the B-final of the 100-yard butterfly. McClain touched in 1:29.58, while Smith followed by clocking a time of 1:35.40.
Cedar Crest had two participants in the 200-yard freestyle. Fiedler finished in sixth place with a time of 2:09.28 while first-year
Meaghan Drum (Collegeville, Pa./Collegeville) took 12
th overall and fourth in the B-final, touching in 2:18.76.
Davis was the lone swimmer for the Falcons in the 100-yard breaststroke, competing in the B-final. She took third in the B-final and ninth overall, finishing in 1:20.60.
Senior
Zaria Berry (Maplewood, N.J./Columbia) competed in the B-final of the 100-yard backstroke and finished the event in 1:14.04.
A new program record was set in the last event of the night for Cedar Crest as Fiedler, Alulis, Drum, and Mower completed the 800-yard freestyle relay in 9:08.95, besting the previous school record by nearly 12 seconds.
The Falcons will conclude the Championships on Sunday, February 12 with the prelims beginning at 10:00 a.m., followed by the finals session at 4:00 p.m.
