ST. MARY'S CITY, Md. – The Cedar Crest College swimming team finished sixth at the Atlantic East Conference Championships, concluding the three-day event with 274 points.
Marymount University captured the women's team title with 771 points. St. Mary's College of Maryland was second with 609 points. Cabrini University (477), Marywood University (387), and Immaculata University (340) closed out the top five in that order. Cedar Crest (274) and Gallaudet (180) were sixth and seventh, respectively.
The day began with a third-place performance from junior
Megan Fiedler (Woodbridge, Va./Woodbridge Senior) in the 1650-yard freestyle, clocking a time of 19:59.65. Senior
Abbey Mower (Manahawkin, N.J./Southern Regional) and junior
Corrine McClain (Willingboro, N.J./Holy Cross Preparatory Academy) also competed in the event. Mower placed 13
th (21:02.80) while McClain finished in 27:15.27.
Mower was back in the pool for the 200-yard backstroke, along with senior
Zaria Berry (Maplewood, N.J./Columbia), both participating in the B-final. Mower swam a time of 2:34.64 while Berry followed with a 2:40.74 time.
In the next event that featured the Falcons, senior
Rachael Alulis (Whitehall, Pa./Whitehall) was took 11
th overall and third in the B-final of the 200-yard breaststroke, finishing in 2:58.34. Sophomore
Taylor Davis (Wilmington, Del./Newark) also participated in the event and clocked a time of 3:04.64.
Alulis and McClain were the representatives for Cedar Crest in the 200-yard butterfly, both in the B-final. Alulis swam the event in 2:49.41, while McClain followed in 3:22.51.
In the final event of the Championships, the Falcons took sixth place in the 400-yard freestyle relay. The team of Berry, Davis, first-year
Meaghan Drum (Collegeville, Pa./Collegeville), and Mower registered a time of 4:17.98.
This meet marks the end of the season for Cedar Crest.
