Box Score BRYN ATHYN, Pa. – The Cedar Crest College tennis team was defeated by Bryn Athyn College in a 6-3 final on Wednesday afternoon in a United-East Conference Skye Division match.
 
The Lions began the day with a 2-1 start in doubles play. The Falcons' first doubles team of seniors Lily Spagnola (Barnegat, N.J./Barnegat) and Katherine Franzone (Mount Bethel, Pa./Pennsylvania Cyber Charter) were defeated by juniors Hunter Daum (Bryn Athyn, Pa.) and Thea Keal (Bryn Athyn, Pa.), 8-6. Junior Corinne O'Connor (Bay Shore, N.Y./Bay Shore) and senior Megan Fiedler (Woodbridge, Va./Woodbridge Senior) were taken down by seniors Ava Fino (Harding, Pa.) and Amber Dawes (Philadelphia, Pa.), 8-7 (10-4) at the No. 2 spot. Junior Grace Nieman (Mount Airy, Md./South Carroll) and first-year Grace Huff (Pottsville, Pa./Pottsville Area) secured the Cedar Crest's first win of the day against seniors Katherine Hyatt (Bryn Athyn, Pa.) and Jenna Hartshaw (Downingtown, Pa.), 8-5, at third doubles.
 
Spagnola started singles play and fell to junior Nicol Kaczorek (Philadelphia, Pa.) at the No. 1 in three sets (7-6, 2-6, 10-8). Franzone was defeated by senior Annae Connelly (Huntingdon Valley, Pa.) in second singles (6-1, 6-1. Keal defeated Fiedler at the No. 3 slot, 6-1 and 6-0. O'Connor picked up the Falcons' second win in three sets over Dawes at fourth singles (4-6, 7-6, 10-8). Nieman secured the Falcons' final win of the day, defeating Fino in fifth singles, 6-2 and 6-1. First-year Camber Beverage (Taylor, Pa./Riverside) was taken down by Hyatt at the No. 6 slot by 6-2, 6-1 scores.
 
Cedar Crest (1-10 overall, 0-2 United East-Skye Division) will return home against Notre Dame of Maryland University on Thursday April 18 at 4:00 p.m. Bryn Athyn (5-5 overall, 2-1 United East-Skye Division) will travel to Baltimore, Md. to take on Notre Dame of Maryland University on Saturday, April 20 beginning at 1:00 p.m.
