Tennis Drops Conference Match to NDMU, 6-3

ALLENTOWN, Pa. – The Cedar Crest College tennis team dropped a United East Conference Skye Division match against Notre Dame of Maryland University in a 6-3 final on Thursday afternoon.
 
The Falcons' first doubles team of seniors Lily Spagnola (Barnegat, N.J./Barnegat) and Katherine Franzone (Mount Bethel, Pa./Pennsylvania Cyber Charter) picked up the first win of the day by defeating junior Mackenzie Lookingland (Baltimore, Md.) and first-year Morgan Lookingland (Baltimore, Md), 8-4. Senior Megan Fiedler (Woodbridge, Va./Woodbridge Senior) and junior Corinne O'Connor (Bay Shore, N.Y./Bay Shore) fell to juniors Renee Rosales (Baltimore, Md.) and Tam Truong (Bel Air, Md.), 8-0 at the No. 2 spot. Junior Nwanneka Udolisa (Hardford County, Md.) and senior Alyson Geckle (Linthicum, Md) defeated junior Grace Nieman (Mount Airy, Md./South Carroll) and first-year Grace Huff (Pottsville, Pa./Pottsville Area), 8-7 (11-9), at third doubles.
 
Spagnola opened singles play and picked up the Falcons' second win of the day over Mack. Lookingland at the No. 1 in two sets (6-3, 6-4). Franzone was taken down by Rosales at second singles (6-7 (4-7), 6-1, 10-2.). Truong defeated Fiedler at the No. 3 slot, 6-2 and 6-1. O'Connor fell to Mor. Lookingland at fourth singles in three sets, (5-7, 6-4, 10-6). Nieman secured the Cedar Crest's final win of the day, defeating Geckle in fifth singles, 6-4 and 6-1. First-year Camber Beverage (Taylor, Pa./Riverside) was taken down by Udolisa at the No. 6 slot by 6-4, 6-2 scores.
 
Cedar Crest (1-11 overall, 0-3 United East-Skye Division) will travel to Cairn University on Friday April 19 for their final regular season match beginning at 3:00 p.m. Notre Dame (2-5 overall, 2-1 United East-Skye Division) will host Bryn Athyn College on Saturday, April 20 beginning at 1:00 p.m.
