Box Score FREDERICK, Md. – The Cedar Crest College tennis team lost to Hood College, 8-1, on Sunday afternoon at the Hood Tennis Complex.
 
The Blazers began the day by sweeping in doubles play. The Falcons' first doubles pair of junior Corinne O'Connor (Bay Shore, N.Y./Bay Shore) and senior Megan Fiedler (Woodbridge, Va./Woodbridge Senior) fell to first-year Anna Frye (Fredrick, Md.) and sophomore Kate Haufe (Severna Park, Md.), 8-0. Senior Cori Mark (Bel Air, Md.) and junior Lauren Sheffler (Williamsport, Md.) defeated junior Grace Nieman (Mount Airy, Md./South Carroll) and first-year Camber Beverage (Taylor, Pa./Riverside), 8-2. First-year Georgia Falzone (Buffalo, N.Y.) and sophomore Samantha Huffer (Lovettsville, Va.) won by default at No. 3 doubles.
 
Fiedler opened singles play and fell to Haufe at first singles (6-0,6-0). Mark defeated O'Connor at second singles 6-1 and 6-1. Nieman rallied for the Falcons' lone win of the day at third singles over Sheffler (7-6, 2-6, 13-11). Falzone defeated Beverage at the No. 4 spot (6-0, 6-0). First-year Natalie Mackie (Elkton, Md.) won by default at the No. 5 spot. Huffer picked up the last win of the day for the Blazers by default.
 
Cedar Crest (1-8 overall) will return to the courts home against Clarks Summit University on Tuesday, April 9 at 4:00 p.m. Hood College (2-4 overall) will travel to Pikesville, Md. to take on Stevenson University on Wednesday, April 10 at 3:00 p.m.
