WESTMINSTER, Md. – The Cedar Crest College wrestling team picked up a pair of impressive victories at the Sam Case Classic at McDaniel College on Sunday, downing Randolph College 34-16, and the host Green Terror, 39-9, handing McDaniel its first loss of the season.

Alex Depew. "This team absolutely outworked their opponents today. McDaniel came in undefeated, and we outclassed them. Cedar Crest wrestling put on a show today. Top to bottom, we were sharp. Looking forward to a lighter week, and we'll be prepared to close out with some home matches."
Match One – Cedar Crest 34, Randolph 16
The Falcons won seven bouts en route to the win over the Wildcats.
After first-year Chloe Simmons (Danville, Va.) defeated first-year
Mary Lopes (Barnet, Vt./St. Johnsbury Academy) by fall at 103, junior
Leilani Martinez (Reading, Pa./Exeter Township Senior) and sophomore
Mel Val (Tracy City, Tenn./St. Andrew's Sewanee) picked up forfeit wins at 110 and 117, respectively, to give Cedar Crest a 10-5 advantage.
The Falcons added to its lead when first-year
Andi Bibeau (Bushkill, Pa./East Stroudsburg North) secured a tech fall victory over first-year Ayden Schultz (Apison, Tenn.) at 124 to stretch the score to 14-6. At 131, classmate
Madacyn Snyder (Wind Gap, Pa./Pen Argyl) followed with a win via fall over Jaden Kopalchick (Prince George, Va.) (1:55).
Junior
Alaina Stanford (Camden, Del./Caesar Rodney) earned a win by forfeit at 138 to extend its margin to 18, 24-6.
Randolph chipped away at its deficit with victories at 145 and 160. First-year Stephanie Noel (Roanoke, Va.) took down junior
Maddie Stultz (Tobyhanna, Pa./Pocono Mountain West) by fall at 145 and then senior
Draydon Charman (Vernon, N.J./Vernon Township) lost to first-year Emily Riopel (Laurens, S.C.) via fall at 160 to cut the lead to eight, 24-16.
Cedar Crest closed out the match with wins at 180 and 207.
Junior
Janeyda Ortiz (Bethlehem, Pa./Liberty) topped first-year Sophia Butler (Deland, Fla.) by fall (2:11) at 180 and classmate
Sarah Seltzer (Shohola, Pa./Delaware Valley) defeated first-year LJ Peters (Woodstock, Va.) via fall at 207 for the 34-16 final.
In an extra match at 160, first-year
Samantha Goworek (Oakland, N.J./Indian Hills) took down sophomore Jenna Moening (Dover, Del.) by fall (1:58).
Match Two – Cedar Crest 39, McDaniel 9
The match against the Green Terror began with a forfeit win for Lopes at 103 to give the Falcons a 5-0 advantage.
At 110, Martinez was defeated via tech fall by first-year Sofia Molina (Jessup, Md.) as McDaniel pulled to within one, 5-4.
Cedar Crest strung together eight consecutive victories to close out the match, including six by fall, one by tech fall, and one by forfeit.
Bibeau beat first-year Ariana Carnahan (Baltimore, Md.) at 117 by fall (3:21).
At 124, Val took down first-year Alize Franz (Baltimore, Md.) via fall (2:14).
Snyder was victorious at 131 over first-year Madison Rich (La Plata, Md.) by fall (3:27).
At 138, Stanford got by first-year Liana Samuel (Lancaster, Pa.) via tech fall.
Goworek won by forfeit at 145 to increase the Falcons' lead to 29-4.
After Charman lost to first-year Maddie Wukitch (Pasadena, Md.) by fall at 160, Cedar Crest rallied for wins in the final two weight classes.
Ortiz earned a triumph by fall (1:38) over first-year Maddie Linton (Dundalk, Md.) at 180 and Seltzer collected the fall victory (3:23) over first-year Kaia Condon (Silver Spring, Md.) at 207 for the 39-9 final.
Cedar Crest (4-1 overall) will now prepare for its home opener, which will take place on Tuesday, December 2 against Kean University at 6:00 p.m.
