Stanford Goes 2-0 For Wrestling at Ursinus Tri-Match; Falcons Knock Off Marymount

11/9/2025 5:40:00 PM

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – The Cedar Crest College wrestling team split a pair of matches on Sunday, defeating Marymount University, 30-19, and falling to Ursinus College, 31-15, in a tri-match on Sunday at Helfferich Hall.

"I'm very proud of how we performed today," said Head Wresting Coach Alex Depew. "We wrestled a bit flat against Marymount, but came out with a win. I'm more proud of the effort in the loss. Ursinus is class. Tremendous coaching and a Top-20 program in the country. Our women went out and battled."

Match One – Cedar Crest 30, Marymount 19

First-year Mary Lopes (Barnet, Vt./St. Johnsbury Academy) started the match with a win by fall over sophomore Nicole Barahona Rios (Arlington, Va.) at 103.

Junior Leilani Martinez (Reading, Pa./Exeter Township Senior) was defeated via fall by first-year Grace Bolstad (Chesterfield, Va.) at 110 as the Saints tied the contest at five.

The Falcons jumped back in front when sophomore Mel Val (Tracy City, Tenn./St. Andrew's Sewanee) picked up a forfeit victory at 117.

Marymount pulled to within one, 10-9, when Ingrid Penn topped first-year Andi Bibeau (Bushkill, Pa./East Stroudsburg North) by tech fall at 124.

First-year Madacyn Snyder (Wind Gap, Pa./Pen Argyl) earned a forfeit victory at 131 to increase the score to 15-9.

Junior Alaina Stanford (Camden, Del./Caesar Rodney) secured one of her two wins on the day at 138 as she defeated first-year Mia Guiterraz-Fuentes (Lorton, Va.) via fall (4:44) to move the margin to 11, 20-9.

First-year Samantha Goworek (Oakland, N.J./Indian Hills) was taken down by first-year Jennifer Djobo (Greenbelt, Md.) by fall at 145.

Senior Draydon Charman (Vernon, N.J./Vernon Township) and junior Janeyda Oritz secured forfeit wins at 160 and 180, respectively to stretch the score to 30-14.

The match concluded when first-year Katianna Martinez (San Jose, Calif.) got by first-year Lily Decker (Saylorsburg, Pa./Pleasant Valley) by fall at 207 to conclude the action with a 30-19 score in favor of Cedar Crest.

Match Two – Ursinus 31, Cedar Crest 15

Ursinus claimed the matches at 103 and 110 by fall to jump out to a 10-0 lead.

Cedar Crest got on the board at 117 when Bibeau took down sophomore Olivia Guy (Ocean City, N.J.) by fall (5:28).

The Falcons picked up a point at 124 when Snyder lost to senior Kalli Roskos (Delran, N.J.) by decision to make the score 13-6.

The Bears recorded a forfeit win at 131 and then senior Adriana Dias (Bethlehem, Pa./Bethlehem Catholic) was defeated by junior Paisley Fox (Flemington, N.J.) by fall at 138 to put Ursinus ahead 23-6.

Cedar Crest cut into the deficit when Stanford secured a victory by decision over first-year Felicity Davis (Spring Grove, Pa.) to trim the margin to 15, 24-9.

Ursinus won the matches at 160 and 180 by decision and tech fall, respectively.

Decker picked up a forfeit win at 207 to conclude the match with a 31-15 score.

There were also three exhibition matches with sophomore Arianna Gonzalez (Fallsburg, N.Y./Fallsburg Junior Senior) being defeated by tech fall at 124, junior Maddie Stultz (Tobyhanna, Pa./Pocono Mountain West) losing by fall at 160, and Ortiz losing to junior Gianna Perez (Soledad, Calif.) by tech fall at 180.

"Andi (Bibeau) knocking off a returning national qualifier was huge," said Depew. "That type of Andi is going to be very hard to beat. Alaina (Stanford) bumping up two weight classes and pulling out a win is the style of wrestling we teach. Madycyn (Snyder) wrestled a returning regional champion. Not only did she keep it to a decision, but she scored the final takedown. There is a ton to look forward to. Another hard week of practice and onto the Millersville Open."

Cedar Crest (1-1 overall) will return to the mat on Sunday, November 16 at the Millersville Open.
