Box Score MIDDLETOWN, Pa. – The Cedar Crest College tennis team was defeated by Penn State Harrisburg in a 7-0 final on Saturday afternoon in a United East Conference match.

The Lions started the match with a sweep of doubles play to win the doubles point. Sophomore Allison Wootton (Portage, Mich.) and senior Breanna DeSantis (El Paso, Texas) topped first-year Raury Barnard (Elkton, Md./Northeast) and senior Corinne O'Connor (Bay Shore, N.Y./Bay Shore) 6-0 at first doubles. Sophomore Anita Liu (McFarland, Wis.) and senior Sarah Shaub (Lancaster, Pa.) took down senior Grace Nieman (Mount Airy, Md./South Carroll) and sophomore Grace Huff (Pottsville, Pa./Pottsville Area) at second doubles, 6-0. Penn State Harrisburg completed the sweep when sophomore Hailey Dey (Forsyth, Ga.) and senior Carissa Fallon (Lehighton, Pa.) teamed up for a 6-0 win at third doubles over sophomore Cam Beverage (Taylor, Pa./Riverside) and senior Gracelynn Pauley (New Oxford, Pa./South Western).


The Lions went onto take all six singles matches. Wootton defeated Barnard at No. 1 singles in a 6-0, 6-0 final. DeSantis beat Nieman at second singles by a 6-0, 6-2 score. Dey took down O'Connor at the No. 3 spot (6-0, 6-0). Shaub got by Huff at No. 4 with a score of 6-0, 6-1. First-year Karina Ko (New York, N.Y.) won at No. 5 over Beverage 6-0 and 6-2. Fallon defeated sophomore Aleice Cherry (Raleigh, N.C./Oscar Smith) 6-0, 6-0 at the No. 6 spot.

Cedar Crest (0-3, 0-1 United East) will host Cairn University for a conference match on Wednesday March 26 at 3:30 p.m. Penn State Harrisburg (6-4, 1-0 United East) will return to the court on Wednesday, March 26. First serve is set for 3:00 p.m.
