Box Score ST. MARY'S CITY, Md. – The Cedar Crest College tennis team was bested by St. Mary's College of Maryland, 7-0, in a United East Conference match on Friday afternoon.

The Seahawks began with a sweep of doubles play to win the doubles point. Sophomore Cleo Solomon (Waldorf, Md.) and senior Amber Manspeaker (Finksburg, Md.) defeated first-year Raury Barnard (Elkton, Md./Northeast) and senior Corinne O'Connor (Bay Shore, N.Y./Bay Shore) at first doubles, 6-0. The second doubles pair of senior Giselle Harris (Easton, Md.) and first-year Stella Manns (White Hall, Md.) doubled up the Falcons' tandem of senior Grace Nieman (Mount Airy, Md./South Carroll) and sophomore Grace Huff (Pottsville, Pa./Pottsville Area), 6-3. Sophomore Cam Beverage (Taylor, Pa./Riverside) and senior Gracelynn Pauley (New Oxford, Pa./South Western) lost to seniors Blessing Samuel (Glen Burnie, Md.) and Melak Armstrong at third doubles, 6-1.

In singles play, St. Mary's took all six matches. Barnard was defeated by Solomon at the top spot (6-1, 6-0). Manspeaker topped Nieman by scores of 6-0 and 6-0 at No. 2. First-year Sarah Levit (Rockville, Md.) took down senior Corinne O'Connor (Bay Shore, N.Y./Bay Shore) at third singles, 6-1 and 6-0. Harris beat Huff at No. 4 singles, 6-2 and 6-0. Sophomore Lauren Lovejoy (Newburg, Md.) topped Beverage at fifth singles (6-1, 6-0). First-year Zoe Wilson (Clarksburg, Md.) bested sophomore Aleice Cherry (Raleigh, N.C./Oscar Smith) at the No. 6 spot, 6-0 and 6-0.

Cedar Crest (2-7 overall, 2-5 United East) hosts Penn State Berks for its final regular season conference match on Saturday, April 19 at noon, marking Senior Day. St. Mary's College of Maryland (11-4 overall, 7-0 United East) concludes the regular season at Penn State Brandywine on Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
