Bella Bozen (Lockport, Ill./Lockport Township) captured the conference title in the javelin, broke the conference meet record and won the discus, while senior
MacKayla Reed (Duncansville, Pa./Hollidaysburg Area Senior) won the conference crown in the 3000-meter steeplechase. The Falcons sit tied for second place as a team with 43 points.
Bozen finished first in the discus, throwing for a conference meet record of 35.40 meters, besting the previous record of 34.84 meters. It also marked a new program record. Junior
Alana Connor (Manassas, Va./Charles J. Colgan) took sixth with a personal record mark of 28.89 meters. First-year
Symarah Drey (Bethlehem, Pa./Liberty) followed with a throw of 22.53 meters, marking a personal record, while sophomore
Courtney Gibbons (Allentown, Pa./Parkland) tossed for a mark of 19.57 meters.
The Falcons had three participants in the long jump event. Senior
Abril Riley (Levittown, Pa./Harry S. Truman) collected a mark of 3.96 meters while sophomore
Tianlly Davila (Frederick, Md./Governor Thomas Johnson) jumped 3.85 meters to finish 11
th.
Bozen won the javelin with a personal record throw of 33.51 meters, registering a personal record. Drey was seventh, tossing for a mark of 23.96 meters for a personal record.
Reed crossed the finish line first in the 3000-meter steeplechase, clocking a time of 14:56.06. First-year
Giada Smith (Springtown, Pa./Palisades) followed in second (15:09.96).
First-year
Alyssa Maldonado (Delmar, Md./Parkland) was the lone representative for Cedar Crest in the 100-meter dash prelims, registering a time of 15.58 seconds.
Sophomore
Krishana Brooks (Long Branch, N.J./Long Branch) ran for the Falcons in the 200-meter dash prelims, crossing the finish line in 30.11 seconds.
Cedar Crest will look to carry its momentum into the second and final day of the United East Conference Championships, which is slated to begin on Sunday, May 4 at 10:00 a.m.
