CHESTER, Pa. – The Cedar Crest College track & field team competed at the Danny Curran Invitational at Widener University on Friday and Saturday.
In the 5,000-meter event, sophomore
Giada Smith (Springtown, Pa./Palisades) ran a time of 21:34.81.
Senior
Bella Bozen (Lockport, Ill./Lockport Township) led the Falcons in the shot put, tallying a mark of 9.25 meters. First-year
Caterina Catizone (Milford, Pa./Delaware Valley) collected a throw of 9.05 meters.
Bozen took 10
th in the discus, tossing a mark of 36.15 meters.
In the 1500-meter event, sophomore
Katie Garcia (Easton, Pa./Notre Dame) clocked a time of 6:00.57. Senior
Shayla Simek (Lehighton, Pa./Lehighton Area) crossed the line in 6:57.40 and classmate
Lauren Davis (Oley, Pa./Oley Valley) followed in 7:00.13.
First-year
Keyara Harriston (Allentown, Pa./William Allen) ran in the 100-meter hurdles, finishing in 19.21 seconds.
First-year
Laila Stevenson (Sayreville, N.J./Sayreville War Memorial) competed in the 400-meter dash, registering a personal-best time of 1:04.47. Sophomore
Mel Val (Tracy City, Tenn./St. Andrew's Sewanee) followed behind (1:05.43). Harriston finished in 1:10.07 and sophomore
Emily Matoushek (Waymart, Pa./Forest City Regional) clocked a personal-best of 1:16.16.
Cedar Crest had two on the track in the 100-meter dash with sophomore
Alyssa Maldonado (Delmar, Md./Parkland) crossing the line in 14.12 seconds and junior
Krishana Brooks (Long Branch, N.J./Long Branch) in 14.59 seconds.
In the 200-meter dash, Stevenson led the way, finishing in 27.88 seconds. Val followed in 28.74 seconds. Brooks crossed the line in 29.79 seconds while Matoushek recorded a time of 31.67 seconds.
Bozen was the lone Falcon in the javelin, taking 13
th with a throw of 30.33 meters.
In the 400-meter hurdles, senior
Lexus Kutz-Green (Wilson, Pa./Wilson Area) clocked a time of 1:30.33.
Cedar Crest will return to action at the Muhlenberg Invitational on Thursday, April 2 at 3:00 p.m.
