LATHAM, N.Y. – Sophomore
Giada Smith (Springtown, Pa./Palisades) of the Cedar Crest College track & field team was recognized as the United East Conference Track Athlete of the Week, as announced on Tuesday morning.
Smith broke her own school record in the 3000-meter steeplechase by 40 seconds at the Muhlenberg Invitational, clocking a time of 13:26.01, taking fourth overall in the meet and moving up to first place in the conference at the time of competition. She now ranks 23rd in the region in the event.
This is Smith's first United East weekly accolade of her career.
Smith and Cedar Crest will return to action at the Bill Butler Invitational hosted by West Chester University on Friday, April 11 and Saturday, April 12.
