ALLENTOWN, Pa. – Cedar Crest College Director of Athletics Christy Malone Fleagle has announced the hiring of Jamie Bowne as the College's new Head Swimming Coach.

Bowne brings a strong combination of collegiate coaching experience, competitive swimming leadership, aquatics operations and student-athlete development to Cedar Crest. She joins the Falcons after building an extensive coaching résumé that includes collegiate experience at The College of New Jersey (TCNJ), as well as leadership roles with competitive swim programs in New Jersey.

"We are incredibly excited to welcome Jamie as the new Head Swimming Coach," said Fleagle. "Jamie brings a wealth of coaching knowledge, competitive experience, and a passion for developing student-athletes. Throughout the search process, it was evident that she has a clear vision for building a strong team culture while helping our Falcons reach their full potential both in and out of the pool. I am confident that her leadership, energy, and commitment to excellence will help propel our swimming program to the next level, and I look forward to watching the positive impact she will have on our student-athletes and the Cedar Crest community."

Bowne served as a Varsity Swim Graduate Assistant Coach at TCNJ from 2023-24, where she assisted with daily practice execution, meet preparation, training schedules and athlete development. She also assisted the coaching staff with recruiting prospective student-athletes and supported collegiate and high school meet operations using Hy-Tek and Colorado Timing Systems.

In addition to her collegiate experience, Bowne has served as the Head Swim Coach at the Mount Laurel YMCA since 2023 and as Head Swim Coach at Sunnybrook Swim Club since 2022. In those positions, she has overseen practice planning, competitive meet preparation, swimmer development, team logistics and athlete instruction while creating positive team environments focused on sportsmanship, skill development and safety.

Bowne also brings significant experience in aquatics operations. From 2018 through 2024, she served as Manager and Pool Operator at Woodbine Swim Club, where she oversaw facility operations, staffing, safety training, water chemistry, maintenance and compliance. She previously worked as an American Red Cross Lifeguarding and CPR Instructor, teaching CPR, First Aid, AED and lifeguard certification courses.

Her coaching experience extends to the high school level as well. Bowne has served as a Volunteer Assistant Coach with Delran High School since 2024, assisting with practice development, practice execution and meet lineups.

Bowne also brings a strong background in education and student development to her new role. She currently serves as a School Counselor at Delran High School, where she works with approximately 250 students and supports their academic, social and emotional development. She earned a Master of Arts in Counseling from TCNJ in 2024 and previously earned bachelor's degrees in Psychology and WGS with a minor in Criminology from TCNJ in 2021.

Bowne was a three-year member of the women's swimming and diving team at TCNJ, where she was First Team All-Conference in seven events and served as the team captain her senior year. During her junior year of high school, she was recognized as the South Jersey Swimmer of the Year.

"I am incredibly grateful to Director of Athletics, Christy Fleagle, and the search committee for entrusting me with the opportunity to serve as the Head Coach for Cedar Crest Swimming", said Bowne. "It is an honor to take on this role, and I am eager to begin this next chapter of my coaching career. I am excited to invest in our student-athletes and help them discover what they're capable of both in and out of the pool. I look forward to building an environment where our athletes feel supported, challenged, and empowered to become the best version of themselves. Go Falcons!"

Bowne and the Falcons will open the 2026-27 season on October 17 at Hollins University, where Cedar Crest will also compete against Sweet Briar College in a double-dual starting at 11:00 a.m.
