Karina Beck came to Cedar Crest to earn a degree in Nuclear Medicine in 1990 where she fell in love with the campus and knew this was where she wanted to spend her next four years. Karina has fond memories looking back on her time here.
Karina enjoyed the many traditions on campus, many of which are still active today, such as Midnight Breakfast and Frolic. She held many jobs on campus, ranging from a tour guide to the switch boards and even had a position in Residence Life. While she was always active in sports starting at a young age, she wanted to continue that at Cedar Crest where she played both volleyball and lacrosse, serving as a defensive player for both squads.
After graduation, she attended graduate school and in 1996 Karina began her coaching career. For 10 years she was the head coach at Central Bucks East High School and following that in 1999, her club formed after winning the Gold Medal at the Keystone State Games. She coached these young women until 2007, and during that time, she had 100 percent of her players graduate from college, while 75 percent of them went on to play on a full-ride. From 2000-2001 she coached the Palisades High School field hockey team.
In 2000, Karina took her club team to the U.S. Lacrosse National Tournament, where they were not only successful, but won the National Championship. The year after her National Championship title she took on the role of tournament director for the U.S. Lacrosse Women’s Division National Tournament, and would hold the title until this past year (2016). In 2008, she was the tournament director for the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Club of America. Karina has had national and international success with her Philly Girls Club team. In 2017, she coached second and third graders.
