Swimming Wins Dual Meet at New Rochelle

NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y.--- The Cedar Crest College swim team traveled for their final regular season meet at College of New Rochelle for a dual meet with John Jay College on Saturday afternoon with the team where they defeated the host school,116-57.

The Falcons started the meet with a win in the 200 yard medley relay with freshman Natalie Bennington (Scranton, Pa./Scranton), senior Maggie Olock (Bethlehem, PA/Liberty High School), freshman Madison Wagner (Boyertown, Pa./Oley Valley) and freshman Dominique Player (Baltimore, Md./Mergenthaler Votech) finishing at 2:13.62. Bennington would also finish first in the 1000 yard freestyle coming in at 13:40.49. The Falcons took first and second in the 200 yard freestyle which saw senior Ciara Lane (Northampton, PA/Northampton Area) 2:21.27 while fellow senior Hali Sampson (Bethlehem, Pa./Liberty) finished second in 2:33.82. Freshman Dawn Cortright (Oxford, N.J./Warrenhills Regional ) took second in the 50 yard freestyle with a time of 29.71 while sophomore Tiffany Cuth (Walnutport, Pa./Northampton) took third at 32.00.

100 yard IM had Cedar Crest in first and third, Wagner took first with a time of 1:10.31 while freshman Cassandra Reijgers (Hollis, NH/Hollis Brookline) took third 1:28.39. In the 100 yard butterfly Wagner took second touching the wall at 1:14.12. Olock took first in the 100 yard freestyle with a time of 57.68 while Cortright took third with time of 1:05.63. The 100 yard backstroke had Lane coming in at 1:11.61 for a first place finsh as teammates Cuth finished fourth with a time of1:34.72 and Reijgers at 1:37.57 in fifth. 500 yard freestyle as Bennington took first with a time 6:38.56 and Sampson took second with a time of 6:52.37. The Falcons also took first in 100 yard breaststroke with Olock hitting the wall at 1:10.89, Reijgers took fourth with the time of 1:35.91 while Player touched at 1:45.16.

Cedar Crest heads to Championships on Thursday, February 9 at Cazenovia.
