Falcons Sweep Tri-Meet For Record-Breaking Win

New Rochelle, N.Y. --- The Cedar Crest College swim team competed in a tri-meet versus host College of New Rochelle (CNR) and Bard College at the Wellness Center Pool in New York Monday evening.

The Falcons swept both the host CNR by a score of 129-44 and Bard College 111-55 in their last meet before the NEAC Championship. These wins have helped Cedar Crest break the school record for wins in a season with six.

In the first event, the 200 Yard Medley Relay, the Falcons placed first with a time of 2:15.12 and second place finishing in 2:35.88. In the 1000-yard Freestyle, Nithya Lakshminarayanan placed second with a time of 13:11.23 and Anastasia Dalja finished third with a time of 16:00.76. Emily Klenk claimed the top spot in the 200-yard Freestyle with a time of 2:25.86.  Also claiming first place in this meet was Autumn Kidulic, who earned the top spot in the 50-yard Freestyle event with a time of 28.49. Marissa Madson placed fourth out of six in the 50-yard Freestyle ending her lap at 37.58.

Madison Wagner claimed first place in the 100-yard IM touching the wall at 1:10.43, as well as Lakshminarayanan who placed fourth with a time of 1:18.99. During the 100-yard Butterfly, Kidulic and Cassandra Reijgers were two out of the three participants, Kidulic finished her event in 1:13.99 and Reijgers in 1:39.04. Olivia Lopez won the 100-yard Freestyle event finishing in 1:05.53 and Tiffany Cuth placed third out of six with a time of 1:11.45. Emily Badman competed in the 100-yard Backstroke finishing her run in 1:21.46.

Klenk claimed another victory, placing first in the 500-yard Freestyle with a time of 6:17.89. The Falcons had four swimmers compete in the 100-yard Breaststroke, placing third through sixth, in the order of Reijgers (1:31.74), Cuth (1:31.91, Dalja (1:37.58), and Madson (1:46.16). The last event Cedar Crest participated in was the 200-yard Freestyle, which had two squads of Falcons. Cedar won the event with a time of 1:58.34, consisting of Wagner, Badman, Sierra Ressler, and Lopez. The third place finishers for Cedar Crest included Madson, Klenk, Rachel Barrett, and Dalja.

The next meet for the Falcons is not until February 16, 17 and 18 when they head to SUNY Cobleskill for the NEAC Championships. Starting times for these events will be announced in the near future.
