ALLENTOWN, Pa. --- The Cedar Crest College Tennis team suffered an 8-1 loss to Marywood University Friday afternoon to put the Falcons overall record at 7-6 overall and 6-3 in the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC).
In doubles action, the Falcons were swept, with junior
Beth Kistler (Tamaqua, Pa./Tamaqua Area) and sophomore
Andrea Abdale (Philadelphia, Pa./Northeast ) falling at 2nd doubles (8-2). Â Senior
Myeisha Harris (Allentown, Pa./William Allen) and freshman
Katherine Naples (Eau Claire, Wis./Eau Claire North) were unable to grab their point at 3rd doubles, (8-1) while senior
Taylor Doran (Petaluma, CA/Casa Grande) and junior
Kristina Litonjua (Easton, Pa./Easton Area High School) lost at 1st doubles (8-2). The Falcons would go into singles play trailing the Pacers, 3-0.
5th singles saw
Abdale get defeated by her Pacer opponent, (6-1, 6-2) while
Kistler dropped her point at 3rd singles (3-6, 1-6) to put Marywood ahead 5-0.
Litonjua's battle came up short, as she fell in a tie-breaker set (6-1, 3-6, 1-0(10-6)) with
Naples falling at 4th doubles (4-6, 0-6). SAGE student
Tennille Colbert (Brooklyn, N.Y./Manhattan Comp) was unable to capture the victory, losing (1-6, 0-6).
Doran was the only Falcon able to claim a win in the match, taking down her opponent at 1st singles, (6-3, 7-6(9-7)) as the Falcons would ultimately fall to Marywood, 8-1 on Senior Day.
The Falcons will end their regular season on Saturday, April 14 at 1:00 PM as they to Immaculata University to take on the Mighty Macs.
