Falcons Take Down Highlanders for 5th CSAC Victory

Box Score ALLENTOWN, Pa. --- The Cedar Crest College Tennis team defeated Cairn University 7-2 on Saturday afternoon to put the Falcons at 6-5 on the year and now 5-2 in the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC).

In doubles action, the Falcons took all three points, with junior Beth Kistler (Tamaqua, Pa./Tamaqua Area) and sophomore Alyssa Epsaro (Bethlehem, Pa./Liberty) earning the first point of the match at 2nd doubles (8-3). Senior Taylor Doran (Petaluma, CA/Casa Grande) and junior Kristina Litonjua (Easton, Pa./Easton Area High School) took 1st doubles (8-2) to extend the lead. Senior Myeisha Harris (Allentown, Pa./William Allen) and sophomore Adaliz Gonzalez (Dover, Pa./North Eastern) grabbed the third point at 3rd doubles (8-6) to put the Black and Yellow up 3-0 after the doubles flight.

Kistler claimed her point at 2nd singles (6-0, 6-1) to open singles play, with Litonjua earning a victory at 1st singles (7-5, 6-0) to extend Cedar Crest's lead to 5-0. Freshman Katherine Naples would drop the match at 4th doubles (6-4, 4-6, 5-7) with Epsaro taking the point after a hard fought first set in the 3rd spot, (7-5, 6-1). 6th singles was another back and forth match, that ended with freshman Ashley Wilkins (Rochester, N.H./Spaulding) coming up short (3-6, 6-2, 7-6). The last singles group to finish was 5th single that saw sophomore Andrea Abdale (Philadelphia, Pa./Northeast ) defeat her Highlander opponent in a pro set, (8-4) to give the Falcons their final point of their 7-2 victory.

The Falcons will return to action on Wednesday, April 11 at 3:30 PM as they travel to CSAC opponent Rosemont College.
