Swimming Squad goes 2-1 in Triple-Dual Meet at St. Joseph's-Long Island

PATCHOGUE, NY --- The Cedar Crest College Swim & Dive program turned a 2-1 performance at the Triple-Dual Meet that took place at the Danzi Athletic Center on the campus of St. Joseph's-Long Island Friday evening.
 
The Falcons improve to 4-2 this season after the meet. The Black and Yellow defeated York College (NY) 135-46 and St. Joseph's Brooklyn 112-67, but fell to the host Golden Eagles, 78-121.
 
The first event was the 200-Yard Medley Relay that saw two Falcons squads, the A group consisted of graduate student Olivia Lopez (Brandywine, MD /Gwynn Park ), freshman Mackenzie Inacker (Scotch Plains, N.J./Scotch Plains Fanwood), senior Mariah Stoppie (Minersville, Pa./Minersville Area) and sophomore Ramona Dalja that finished in second place with a time of 2:19.83. The B team saw junior Makenzie Kistler, sophomore Alexandra Arabio, junior Brenna Desborough (Amherst, N.H./Souhegan ) and junior Dominique Player (Baltimore, Md./Mergenthaler) turn in a time of 3:14.54.
 
In the 200-yard Freestyle, Desborough placed fifth of six, touching the wall for the final time at 3:26.50 while Lopez and Arabio competed in the 100-yard Backstroke. Lopez finished in second with a time of 1:17.25 and Arabio in 1:50.12. Two Falcons also swam in the 100-yard Backstroke, Inacker claimed the top-spot by almost a full-second, completing the event in 1:21.95 while Player came in sixth with a time of 1:44.48.
 
Stoppie and Dalja completed the 200-yard Butterfly, Stoppie in second with a 2:52.20 and Dalja in 3:46.80. In the 50-yard Freestyle, Arabio ended in sixth with a time of 42.69 and Kistler in eighth in 46.67. Arabio also swam the next event, the 100-yard Freestyle, finishing in 2:03.62 with Player completing the event ahead of her in 1:31.43. The 200-yard Backstroke had Lopez ending in second place with a time of 2:42.92, followed by Desborough finishing at 4:08.45.
 
Inacker came close to winning the 200-yard Breaststroke, finishing just over one second behind the winner, with a time of 3:01.82. Dalja also competed in the event, touching at 3:45.32. Desborough was the lone Falcon in the 100-yard Butterfly, placing third in 1:54.04. Stoppie turned in a first-place performance during the 200-yard Individual Medley with a time of 2:43.28. In the final event of the meet, the 400-yard Freestyle Relay, Cedar Crest's team of Inacker, Dalja, Stoppie and Lopez came in first place with a time of 4:28.15.
 
Cedar Crest will return home for their final meets of the season, hosting a Double-Dual meet versus both the College of New Rochelle and Immaculata University on January 26 beginning at 3:00 PM.
