Swimming splits Double-Dual Meet with Immaculata and New Rochelle

ALLENTOWN, Pa. --- The Cedar Crest Swimming program split their double-dual meet at Rodale Aquatic Center, defeating Immaculata University 158-61 but fell to the College of New Rochelle 106-128, Saturday afternoon. The Falcons improve to 5-3 overall after going 1-1 during their last double-dual meet of the season.
 
The 200-yard Medley Relay led off the day, which Cedar Crest had two squads compete. The first team to touch the wall was graduate student Olivia Lopez (Brandywine, MD /Gwynn Park ), freshman Mackenzie Inacker (Scotch Plains, N.J./Scotch Plains Fanwood), senior Mariah Stoppie (Minersville, Pa./Minersville Area) and sophomore Emily Klenk (Denver, CO/Monarch) finishing at 2:13.45. The second quad finished in 2:40.46, which consisted of sophomore Alexandria Arabio, junior Cassandra Reijgers (Hollis, N.H./Hollis Brookline), sophomore Brenna Desborough (Amherst, N.H./Souhegan ) and junior Dominique Player (Baltimore, Md./Mergenthaler).
 
The next event was the 1650-yard Freestyle that had Stoppie and Klenk involved, finishing 1.34 seconds after each other. Stoppie touched second overall, at 22:08.3 and Klenk at 22:09.64. Placing second in the 200-yard Freestyle was Ramona Dalja, finishing the laps in 2:53.02 with Player finishing in 3:09.5. During the 50-yard Backstroke, Lopez finished in second with a time of 34.02 and Arabio touched in 42.66.
 
Inacker claimed first in the 50-yard Breaststroke with a time of 37.04 and Reijgers finished over four-seconds later at 41.41. Dalja and Desborough were the two Falcons to swim the 200-yard Butterfly, finishing third and fourth respectively. Dalja completed the event in 3:42.2 as Desborough finished in 3:48.87. Finishing three-seconds behind the first-place finisher was Player during the 50-yard Freestyle, completing the heat in 33.83 as Arabio placed fourth with a time of 38.86. The 100-yard Individual Medley had three members of the Black and Yellow, Stoppie finished in 1:16.23 for second place, while Inacker was a second behind at 1:17.49 for third and Arabio finished with a time of 1:54.18.
 
Lopez ended the 200-yard Backstroke in second place with a 2:44.99 final time as Desborough ended with 3:56.11. The next event saw Inacker place second with a time of 3:00.41 in the 200-yard Breaststroke with Reijgers finishing in 3:19.49. Klenk was the only Falcon to participate in the 500-yard Freestyle and touched the wall for the final time of 6:34.34 to claim second place.
 
Reijgers and Dalja both swam the 400-yard Individual Medley, Reijgers finishing in 6:55.21 and Dalja in 7:04.31 as Stoppie and Lopez finished second and third during the 50-yard Butterfly. Cedar Crest would win the last event of the double-dual meet, the 200-yard Freestyle Medley, with the team of Klenk, Desborough, Player and Dalja finishing in 2:16.3 to close out the event.
 
The Falcons will get back to action next Saturday, February 2, when they host Kean University on Senior Day. Diving will take place at 2:00 PM at William Allen High School's Hacket Natatorium, then the meet will begin at 3:00 PM at Rodale Aquatic Center.
