Swimming drops first contest of the 2019-2020 season at East Stroudsburg

East Stroudsburg, Pa. --- The Cedar Crest College Swim and Dive team suffered its first loss of the 2019-20 season with a 78-158 loss to Division II East Stroudsburg University on Saturday afternoon.

The first event for the Falcons was the 200-yard Medley Relay which had Nyla Boulware (Whitehall Pa./Whitehall), Abigail Trettin (Tuckerton, NJ), Audra Bratis (Doylestown, Pa/PA Leadership Charter School ), and Dominique Player (Baltimore, Md./Mergenthaler) combine for a time of 3:08.13 giving them a third-place finish. In the next event, rookie, Abbey Mower (Manahawkin, NJ/Southern Regional ) dominated the 1650-yard Freestyle, with a time of 22:11.93, nearly 32 seconds ahead of East Stroudsburg's Erynn Brady who finished second. This event gave Mower her first top place finish in her debut swim meet. Ember Kriner (Lancaster, Pa ) was able to overcome losing both her cap and hair tie early on during the 1650 where she placed third with a time of 25:45.19. Rachael Alulis (Whitehall, Pa ), Mackenzie Inacker (Scotch Plains, N.J./Scotch Plains Fanwood), and Zaria Berry () all swam in the 200-yard Freestyle with a time of 2:20.16, 2:22.29, and 2:39.31 respectively.

Berry finished third in the 100-yard Backstroke with a time of 1:20.47 followed by Kriner who finished in 1:27.34.  Player and Trettin took second and third place in the 100-yard Breaststroke with times of 1:44.93 and 2:03.94.  Alulis and Boulware also took second and third in 200-yard Butterfly finishing with times of 2:44.87 and 3:48.24. In the 50-yard Freestyle, Inacker took third place with a time of 28.30 while Trettin finished in fifth place. Inacker and Player finished in fourth and fifth place in the 100-yard Freestyle race with 1:07.12 and 1:25.98.

Mower finished the 200-yard Backstroke in second place with a time of 2:43.04 followed by Berry in third with 2:57.29. In the 200-yard Breaststroke the Falcons were able to clinch second, third, and fourth place. Boulware finished second with a time of 3:40.06 followed by Player and Trettin with times of 4:01.88 and 4:42.53. Mower, who was able to finish top three in all of her events for the day, finished third in the 500-yard Freestyle in 6:38.55 followed by Kriner with a time of 7:35.36.

Berry was the lone Falcon in the 100-yard Butterfly where she took first place with a time of 1:33.96 as a rookie and earning her first top place finish of her career. Alulis and Boulware ended the individual events with the 200-yard Individual Medley where they finished third and fourth with times of 2:36.86 and 3:23.39. Wrapping up the meet was the 200-yard Freestyle Relay where Inacker, Kriner, Mower, and Alulis took third with a time of 2:04.71.
The Falcons will return to action on Saturday, November 2nd as they travel to Bryn Mawr to face the Owls in another non-conference competition.
