Falcons Fall in Non-Conference Double-Dual Meet

Allentown, Pa… The Cedar Crest Swim and Dive hosted Kutztown University and St. Joseph's College on January 11th2020 at the Rodale Aquatic Center. Kutztown scored 150 points, St. Joe's 153 points, and Cedar Crest 85 points. Kutztown defeated St. Joseph's College. 
 
The first event of the double-dual meet was the 200-yard medley relay. Zaria Berry (Maplewood, N.J. /Columbia High School ), Cassandra Reijgers (Hollis, N.H./Hollis Brookline), Nyla Boulware (Whitehall Pa./Whitehall), and Ally Arabio finished in 2:33.52. Freshman, Abbey Mower (Manahawkin, NJ/Southern Regional ) was the lone Falcon in the 1650-yard freestyle and finished in third place with a time of 21:47.60. In the 200-yard freestyle Mackenzie Inacker (Scotch Plains, N.J./Scotch Plains Fanwood) took third with a time of 2:20.92. Josie Schwieterman finished in 2:57.06 dropping over 42 seconds from her previous time. 
 
Berry and Arabio swam in the 100-yard backstroke finishing with times of 1:18.42 and 1:39.53 respectively. In the 100-yard breaststroke Reijgers and Boulware finished in 1:32.35 and 1:34.94. Rachael Alulis (Whitehall, Pa ) finished in third place in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:41.57. Brenna Desborough (Amherst, N.H./Souhegan) also swam in this race and finished in 3:49.33. 
 
Inacker edged out Kutztown's Green, taking third place in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 28.54. Sasha Singh made her debut appearance for the Falcons in the 50 free and finished with an impressive time of 47.64 for a first-time swimmer. In the 100-yard freestyle Inacker placed 4th with a time of 1:04.50. Schwieterman finished in 1:21.05.
 
Mower, aiming to break the 200-yard backstroke record for the Falcons, took third with a time of 2:32.69 just 2 seconds shy of the school record. She will have another chance at the meet tomorrow. Berry finished the 200 back with a time of 2:50.41. Alulis (3:00.11) and Reijgers (3:26.40) swam in the 200-yard breaststroke. Mower was yet again the only Falcon in the 500-yard freestyle distance event. She placed fourth with a time of 6:42.46. 
 
The 100-yard butterfly was the next event. Boulware finished in 1:36.01 and Desborough in 1:50.26. Alulis won the 400-yard individual medley with a time of 5:36.07. Reijgers placed third with a time of 7:04.89. The final event of the day was the 200-yard freestyle relay. The relay of Inacker, Boulware, Mower, and Alulis took third with a time of 2:06.96 and the relay of Singh, Arabio, Schwieterman, and Desborough took fourth with a time of 2:38.24. 
 
All of the swimmers today performed extremely well and everyone dropped time in at least one of their races after a long week of double practices. The Falcons are 3-4 overall this season and 2-0 in conference thus far. The Falcons will compete against conference team, Wells Express tomorrow, January 11th and will be celebrating the seniors on their team. The meet is scheduled to start at 3pm at the Rodale Aquatic Center.
