Falcons fall to both East Stroudsburg and Millersville in non-conference competition

Allentown Pa… On the snowy afternoon of January 18th Cedar Crest hosted East Stroudsburg University and Millersville University for a double-dual meet at the Rodale Aquatic Center. The Falcons fell to the Warriors 58-186 and also fell to the Marauders 98-109. The Falcons were missing some key swimmers this meet due to the weather and illnesses. 
 
The meet started with the 200-yard medley relay. Zaria Berry (Maplewood, N.J. /Columbia High School ), Cass Reijgers, Dominique Player (Baltimore, Md./Mergenthaler), and Josie Schwieterman finished with a time of 2:33.03. In the 1000-yard freestyle, Rachael Alulis (Whitehall, Pa ) finished in third place with a time of 13:01.62. Abbey Mower (Manahawkin, NJ/Southern Regional ) (2:18.82), Mackenzie Inacker (Scotch Plains, N.J./Scotch Plains Fanwood) (2:22.21), and Schwieterman (2:51.69) all swam in the 200-yard freestyle. 
 
Berry was the lone Falcon in the 100-yard backstroke and finished with a time of 1:15.18. In the 100-yard breaststroke Reijgers finished in 1:33.42 and Player in 1:44.34. Alulis placed third in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:46.75 and Brenna Desborough (Amherst, N.H./Souhegan) placed fourth with a time of 3:44.32. For the 50-yard freestyle the Falcons had both Inacker and Player in this event. Inacker swam a time of 29.19 and Player a time of 36.72. 
 
Inacker swam the very next event, the 100-yard freestyle, and swam a time of 1:05.70 while Schwieterman swam a time of 1:19.18. The Falcons took over the 200-yard backstroke with Mower finishing second missing the school record by less than half a second and finishing with a time of 2:30.96. Berry finished third with a time of 2:49.25 and Desboroughfinishing fourth with a time of 3:48.44. 
 
In the 200-yard breaststroke Alulis finished third with a time of 2:58.32 and Reijgers in fourth with a time of 3:23.99. Mower was the only Falcon to swim the 500-yard freestyle finishing in third place with a 6:25.70. In the 100-yard butterfly, Desborough swam a 1:44.32 finishing in fourth place and Player finished with a time of 1:48.28. 
 
Reijgers swam the 400-yard individual medley and finished in third place with a time of 6:59.71. The final event of the day was the 400-yard freestyle relay where Berry, Inacker, Mower, and Alulis finished in fourth place with a time of 4:32.40. 
 
Cedar Crest will travel to Kean University on Saturday the 25th to participate in another double-dual meet with Kean and John Jay College. The Falcons are currently 4-6 overall and 3-0 in conference.
