RESULTS
ALLENTOWN, Pa. – The Cedar Crest College swimming and diving team suffered a 161-64 loss to East Stroudsburg University in its season opener on Saturday afternoon at the Rodale Aquatic Center.
The first event for the Falcons was the 200-yard medley relay which had
Maggie Alder (Hackettstown, N.J./Warren Hills Regional ),
Abbey Mower (Manahawkin, N.J./Southern Regional),
Rachael Alulis (Whitehall, Pa./Whitehall), and
Megan Fiedler (Woodbridge, Va./Woodbridge Senior) combine for a time of 2:18.28 giving them a third-place finish. In the next event, the Warriors captured 13 points with the top-two finishers in the 1000-yard freestyle. Mower finished first in the 200-yard freestyle in a time of 2:21.14.
Ava Leibold (Mertztown, Pa./Brandywine Heights ) captured three points with a third-place finish in the same event. Alulis,
Corrine McClain (Willingboro, N.J./Holy Cross Preparatory Academy), and Alder all swam in the 100-yard backstroke with times of 1:16.88, 1:30.54, and 1:35.61, respectively. East Stroudsburg had the first two finishers in the 100-yard breaststroke while
Julianne Redmond (Quakertown, Pa./Quakertown Community) and Fiedler captured points for the Falcons with third and fourth place finishes.
The Warriors captured 13 points in the next event, the 200-yard butterfly. The visitors followed with the top-three finishers in the 50-yard freestyle. Fiedler placed fourth in a time of 27.95 while Alulis took two points in the event with a time of 29.92. East Stroudsburg won the next three events while the Falcons were awarded 16 points in those same events. Leibold took second place in the 200-yard breaststroke in a time of 3:24.83. Fiedler and Mower placed second and third in the 500-yard freestyle while McClain and and
Zaria Berry (Maplewood, N.J./Columbia) took fifth and sixth in the 100-yard butterfly in times of 1:29.01 and 1:32.81, respectively. Alulis placed third in the 200-yard IM with a time of 2:38:20 while Berry, Leibold, McClain, and Redmond teamed up for a second-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle relay with a time of 2:30.67.
Cedar Crest will return to action on Saturday, November 6 when they host Marywood University and Marymount University in a double-dual meet beginning at 1:00 p.m.
