Swimming Splits Meet With Bison and Seahawks

ST. MARY'S CITY, Md. – The Cedar Crest College swimming and diving team split a pair of decisions on Saturday afternoon, topping Gallaudet University, 100-68, and then fell to St. Mary's College of Maryland in a 110-73 final.

The day began with the 200-yard medley relay. The team of senior Abbey Mower (Manahawkin, N.J./Southern Regional), first-year Meaghan Drum (Collegeville, Pa./Collegeville), sophomore Taylor Davis (Wilmington, Del./Newark), and junior Megan Fiedler (Woodbridge, Va./Woodbridge Senior) took third with a time of 3:12.24.

The Falcons had a strong showing in the 1,000-yard freestyle with Mower finishing second in a time of 12:42.33. Sophomore Rebekah Carty (Quakertown, Pa./21st Century Cyber Charter) followed in fourth (14:42.95).

Cedar Crest had two top-five finishers in the 200-yard freestyle, including the event winner. Fiedler touched first with a time of 2:12.21 while first-year Alyssa Reinhart (Easton, Pa./Easton) took fourth (2:59.26).

The Falcons had a pair of participants in the 50-yard freestyle. Davis completed the event in fourth with a time of 30.43 and first-year Madison Smith (Nazareth, Pa./Nazareth Area) finished in a time of 34.35.

Mower was the lone Cedar Crest student-athlete in the 200-yard IM. The senior took fourth (2:44.51).

The Falcons went two-three in the 100-yard butterfly. Davis was the first to touch for Cedar Crest, placing second in 1:18.89, followed by junior Corrine McClain (Willingboro, N.J./Holy Cross Preparatory Academy) in third (1:33.77).

Drum was the top finisher for the Falcons in the 100-yard freestyle, completing the event in 1:05.51, which was good enough for third. Reinhart took sixth (1:21.51).

Fielder captured her second event win of the afternoon, taking first place in the 500-yard freestyle in a time of 5:57.80.

Drum won the 100-yard breaststroke event, finishing it in 1:26.50. Carty took third (1:42.11).

The Falcons concluded the day with a second-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle relay. Carty, McClain, Smith, and Reinhart completed the event 2:16.00.

Cedar Crest will stay on the road for a double-dual meet at Bryn Mawr College on Saturday, November 19. The Falcons will face the host Owls and Lebanon Valley College beginning at 1:00 p.m.
