BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Cedar Crest College track & field team participated in the Coach P Invitational on Saturday, which was hosted at Moravian University.

The Falcons had a number of personal bests and school records along with one top ten finish and one top five finish.

Freshman Abril Riley (Levittown, Pa./Harry S. Truman ) ran personal best times in the 100 and 200-meter dash events. She finished the 100 meters in 14.67 while classmate Zakiyyah Sabir (Philadelphia, Pa. /Philadelphia E&T) and junior Joslyn Schwieterman (Portland, Maine/Baxter Academy) also ran in the event, registering times of 14.67 and 19.33, respectively. Riley crossed the finish line in the 200-meter dash in 31.67 seconds. Sabir had a personal record in the 200-meter dash, recording a time of 33.04.

Freshman Jess Simins (Phillipsburg, N.J. /Warren Tech) tallied a personal best time of 2:57.21 in the 800-meter run. Junior Saige Sterner (Jim Thorpe, Pa./Jim Thorpe Area) and sophomore Olivia Kelly (Medford, N.J./Shawnee) also competed in the event for Cedar Crest.

Two program records also fell on Saturday afternoon. Freshman Jonquil Loeffelholz (Bellingham, Wash./Sehome) finished 11th in the 5000-meter run with a time of 21:33.85 while senior Brittney Dunleavy (Auburn, Pa./Blue Mountain) ran a time of 17.74 seconds in the 100-meter hurdles.

"Today was a really competitive meet for us, and I thought it brought out a lot of good performances," said Head Coach Alec Duncan. "Jonquil started of the day on the track with a debut in the 5K and had a strong showing. It was great for Brittney to get her ECAC qualifying mark in the 100m hurdles. She was just off the ECAC time in the 400m Hurdles, but it's encouraging to see the consistency between last week and today's performance."

A top-five and top-ten finish highlighted the field events for the Falcons. Junior Kelsee Schouppe (Stroudsburg, Pa./Stroudsburg) placed seventh with a mark of 9.52 meters. Freshman Tiffany Kuras (Stroudsburg, Pa./Stroudsburg) grabbed third in the javelin event with a mark of 35.71 meters, beating out six NCAA Division I athletes.

"Kelsee and Tiffany both threw well in strong fields," continued Duncan. "We're trying some new things with both of them, and it's encouraging to see them both continue to compete well."

Cedar Crest will return to action on Saturday, April 30 at the Monarch Open, hosted by King's College (Pa.) in its final tune-up before the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) Championship Meet, which is set to begin May 7.
