ALFRED, N.Y. – The Cedar Crest College track & field team sits in third place after the first day of the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) Championship Meet on Saturday afternoon, taking place at Alfred State College.
Freshman
Abril Riley (Levittown, Pa./Harry S. Truman ) qualified for the finals of the 100-meter dash on Sunday with a preliminary time of 14.28 seconds, which placed her seventh. Classmate
Zakiyyah Sabir (Philadelphia, Pa. /Philadelphia E&T) and junior
Joslyn Schwieterman (Portland, Maine/Baxter Academy) also competed in the event for the Falcons, registering times of 15.16 and 19.17 seconds respectively.
Senior
Brittney Dunleavy (Auburn, Pa./Blue Mountain) (30.38 seconds), along with Riley (31.37 seconds), Sabir (32.55 seconds), and Schwieterman (42.60 seconds) competed in the 200-meter dash.
The Falcons had four top ten finishers in the 1,500-meter run. Junior
Kiley Marone (Mohrsville, Pa. /Tulpehocken) finished third with a time of 5:14.76. Classmate
Emily Kern (Nazareth, Pa./Nazareth Area) followed in sixth, clocking in with a 6:01.20. Freshman
Jess Simins (Phillipsburg, N.J. /Warren Tech) came in 10 second later with a time of 6:11.59, while sophomore
Olivia Kelly (Medford, N.J./Shawnee) took ninth (6:43.11).
Freshman
Jonquil Loeffelholz (Bellingham, Wash./Sehome) won the lone event for Cedar Crest on Saturday, taking first in the 10,000-meter run. She finished the event in 46:26.27.
Junior
Kelsee Schouppe (Stroudsburg, Pa./Stroudsburg) recorded two top-three finishes in her respective field events. She took second in the discus throw with a mark of 32.02 meters and then finished third in the hammer throw (34.91 meters).
Cedar Crest will close out the championship meet tomorrow, Sunday, May 8 beginning at 10:00 a.m.
