Swimming Topped By Cabrini on Senior Day

ALLENTOWN, Pa. – The Cedar Crest College swimming team was defeated by Cabrini University in a 142-97 final on Saturday afternoon in Atlantic East Conference action at the Rodale Aquatic Center on Senior Day. Prior to the meet, the program honored its five seniors: Rachael Alulis (Whitehall, Pa./Whitehall), Zaria Berry (Maplewood, N.J./Columbia), Ember Kriner (Lancaster, Pa./McCaskey), Abbey Mower (Manahawkin, N.J./Southern Regional), and Joslyn Schwieterman (Portland, Maine/Baxter Academy) in a special ceremony.

The day started with the 200-yard medley relay. The team of first-year Madison Smith (Nazareth, Pa./Nazareth Area), Kriner, junior Corrine McClain (Willingboro, N.J./Holy Cross Preparatory Academy), and Schwieterman took first place with a time of 2:11.56.

Mower and first-year Meaghan Drum (Collegeville, Pa./Collegeville) finished third and fourth, respectively, in the 1,000-yard freestyle. Mower registered a time of 12:45.86 while Drum followed, touching in 13:57.18. McClain and first-year Alyssa Reinhart (Easton, Pa./Easton) also took part in the event.

Junior Megan Fiedler (Woodbridge, Va./Woodbridge Senior) won the 200-yard freestyle event, completing it in 2:11.74. Mower took third place (2:24.31), Schwieterman finished in fifth (2:59.95), while junior Ziah Melton (Allentown, Pa./William Allen) took sixth (4:03.05).

The Falcons had three of the top-five finishers in the 100-yard backstroke. Berry finished second with a time of 1:16.95, Kriner was fourth (1:29.19), while Smith completed the event in 1:39.09.

Cedar Crest went two-three-four in the 100-yard breaststroke. Sophomore Taylor Davis (Wilmington, Del./Newark) was the first Falcon to touch, taking second with a time of 1:22.86. Drum followed in third, completing the event in 1:26.36, while Kriner was fourth (1:43.72). Melton also took part and finished in 2:02.82.

Alulis captured first in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:52.44. McClain was the other Cedar Crest student-athlete in the event, taking third with a time of 3:32.77.
The Falcons had three top-five finishers in the 100-yard freestyle. Kriner placed third (1:21.57), Schwieterman followed in fourth (1:23.47), while Reinhart was fifth (1:26.10).

Cedar Crest went two-three-four once again, this time in the 200-yard backstroke. Fiedler was the first Falcon to touch, taking second (2:33.05). Mower followed third (2:37.53) while Berry took fourth (2:47.09).

Alulis finished third in the 200-yard breaststroke, completing the event in 3:03.84. Davis followed in fourth (3:05.07) while Smith took sixth (3:53.80).

Fiedler won her second event of the day, taking first in the 500-yard freestyle in 5:58.99. Schwieterman finished fourth (8:15:24) while Reinhart rounded out the Falcons in the event, finishing in fifth.

McClain and Smith were the Falcons in the 100-yard butterfly. McClain took second (1:27.93) while Smith was third (1:43.23).

The 200-yard individual medley featured Mower, Alulis, Davis, and Berry for Cedar Crest. Mower finished third with a time of 2:39.64, Alulis followed in fourth (2:42.92), Davis took fifth (2:52.21), while Berry was sixth (2:53.13).

The meet concluded with the 200-yard freestyle relay. The team of Berry, Davis, Drum, and Fiedler took second place with a time of 2:00.16. The Falcons had a second team in the event as Alulis, Kriner, Melton, and Mower finished fourth (2:19.41).

Cedar Crest will now turn its attention to prepare for the Atlantic East Conference Championship Meet, set to take place February 10 through 12 at St. Mary's College of Maryland.
