Swimming Takes Down Gallaudet and St. Mary's

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Cedar Crest College swimming team picked up a pair of Atlantic East Conference victories on Saturday afternoon, topping Gallaudet University, 163-70, and St. Mary's College of Maryland, 123-117.

The Falcons started the day with a first-place in the 200-yard medley relay. The team of senior Megan Fiedler (Woodbridge, Va./Woodbridge Senior), first-year Rylie Heusner (Scranton, Pa./Holy Cross), first-year Camila Gil (Succasunna, N.J./Roxbury), and graduate student Rachael Alulis (Whitehall, Pa./Whitehall) clocked a time of 2:07.93. Cedar Crest also had a relay team finish third, with first-year Jessica Keogh (Sellersville, Pa./Pennridge), first-year Courtney Marks (New Ringgold, Pa./Blue Mountain), senior Corrine McClain, and first-year Erin Walsh (Philadelphia, Pa./Little Flower) touched in 2:57.24.

The Falcons went one-two in the 1,000-yard freestyle. Senior Megan Fiedler (Woodbridge, Va./Woodbridge Senior) won the event in a time of 12:18.08. Alulis took second, registering a time of 13:03.05.

Cedar Crest had two swimmers in the 200-yard freestyle with Gil taking second (2:06.59) followed by Walsh in fourth (3:00.09).

The Falcons had two student-athletes in the 50-yard backstroke. Marks touched third in 42.46 seconds and Keogh touched in 48.01 seconds, which was fourth place.

Heusner won the 50-yard breaststroke with a time of 34.72 seconds. Junior Taylor Davis (Wilmington, Del./Newark) followed in third (38.17 seconds).

Cedar Crest had two in the pool for the 100-yard butterfly. Alulis recorded a second-place finish (1:15.67) and McClain was third with a time of 1:36.77.

Marks and Davis were the pair competing in the 50-yard freestyle for the Falcons. Marks clocked a time of 30.20 seconds and Davis recorded a time of 35.38.

Fiedler won the 100-yard freestyle, touching first in 1:00.83. Walsh took fifth in a time of 1:21.35.

Gil captured first in the 100-yard backstroke, clocking a time of 1:08.42. Marks was fifth in the event (1:34.12).

Heusner touched first in the 100-yard breaststroke in a time of 1:17.22. Alulis followed in fourth, finishing in 1:25.44.

Fiedler won another event, this time in the 500-yard freestyle, with a time of 5:58.83. Keogh took fifth (8:39.96).

Cedar Crest went three-four in the 50-yard butterfly with Davis finishing in 33.75 seconds, followed by McClain (40.88 seconds).

Gil finished second in the 100-yard IM, registering a time of 1:07.57. Heusner took third (1:10.90).

The final event of the day was the 200-yard medley relay. The team of Davis, Keogh, McClain, and Walsh finished third for the Falcons in a time of 2:21.01.

Cedar Crest (4-4 overall, 3-1 Atlantic East) will have an extended break and will return to action on Saturday, January 6 at home against St. Joseph's University Long Island at 1:00 p.m.
