Swimming Splits With Saints and Pacers to Begin Conference Action

ARLINGTON, Va. – The Cedar Crest College swimming team split a pair of decisions to open Atlantic East Conference competition, falling to Marymount University, 191-61, and defeating Marywood University, 126-94 at the Lee Center Pool on Saturday afternoon.

The day began with the 200-yard medley relay and saw the team of senior Megan Fiedler (Woodbridge, Va./Woodbridge Senior), first-year Rylie Heusner (Scranton, Pa./Holy Cross), first-year Camila Gil (Succasunna, N.J./Roxbury), and graduate student Rachael Alulis (Whitehall, Pa./Whitehall) take third with a time of 2:11.01.

The Falcons went three-four in the 1000-yard freestyle. Fiedler touched third, clocking a time of 12:37.54, followed by Alulis in fourth (13:22.86).

Cedar Crest had three participants in the 200-yard freestyle. Gil finished second with a time of 2:07.19. First-year Courtney Marks (New Ringgold, Pa./Blue Mountain) touched sixth (2:57.31) and classmate Erin Walsh (Philadelphia, Pa./Little Flower) was seventh (3:00.03).

The Falcons finished four through six in the 200-yard backstroke. Fiedler was fourth with a time of 1:13.75. First-years Jessica Keogh (Sellersville, Pa./Pennridge) and Jessica Shults (Staten Island, N.Y./New Dorp) were fifth and sixth with times of 1:54.12 and 2:18.47, respectively.

Cedar Crest had two in the pool for the 100-yard breaststroke. Heusner touched second in a time of 1:16.96, followed by junior Taylor Davis (Wilmington, Del./Newark) in fifth (1:25.05).

Alulis was the lone Falcon in the 200-yard butterfly, finishing fourth with a time of 2:56.23.

Cedar Crest went five through seven in the 50-yard freestyle. Davis took fifth (30.72), Marks was sixth (35.46), and Keogh finished sixth (40.09).

First-year Erin Walsh (Philadelphia, Pa./Little Flower), along with Shults competed in the 100-yard freestyle. Walsh took fifth with a time of 1:19.97, followed by Shults (1:56.03) in sixth.

Marks was the only Falcon in the 200-yard backstroke, finishing fifth in a time of 3:25.92.

Gil broke the school record in the 200-yard breaststroke, clocking a time of 2:42.56 and took second. Heusner finished fifth, touching in a time of 3:01.35.

Cedar Crest had three participants in the 500-yard freestyle, led by Fiedler with a second-place finish (5:57.58). Walsh was fifth, clocking a time 8:13.06. Keogh rounded out the field with a time of 9:07.71.

The Falcons went five-six in the 100-yard butterfly. Alulis was fifth, touching in 1:18.00, followed by Davis in sixth (1:21.24).

Gil took second in the 200-yard IM, finishing in 2:25.42. Heusner was fifth in the event (2:44.58).

The Falcons closed out the day with the 200-yard freestyle relay. The team of Davis, Keogh, Walsh, and Marks were fourth with a time of 2:22.45.

Cedar Crest (2-4 overall, 1-1 Atlantic East) will head to Washington, D.C. next weekend to take on St. Mary's College of Maryland and the host Gallaudet University in a conference double-dual meet on Saturday, November 11 at 1:00 p.m.
