Track & Field Takes Part in Jim Taylor Invitational

SELINSGROVE, Pa. – The Cedar Crest College track & field completed day two of the Jim Taylor Invitational hosted by Susquehanna University on Saturday.

In Heat One of the 100-meter dash, sophomore Zakiyyah Sabir (Philadelphia, Pa./Philadelphia E&T) took second with a time of 15.51 seconds. First-year Gaudy Reinoso (Jersey City, N.J./Lincoln) followed, clocking a time of 16.16 seconds while senior Joslyn Schwieterman (Portland, Maine/Baxter Academy) recorded a time of 19.73 seconds.

In the second heat of the event, first-year Ellise Everett (Orlando, Fla./Lake Nona) crossed fourth (14.65 seconds). Classmate Olivia Wanner (Lyons, Pa./Kutztown Area) was close behind (14.88 seconds) while sophomore Abril Riley (Levittown, Pa./Harry S. Truman) completed the event in 15.02 seconds.

In the 200-meter dash, first-year Olivia Wanner (Lyons, Pa./Kutztown Area) ran a time 30.20 seconds. Everett finished the event in 30.45 while Sabir recorded a time of 32.67.

The Falcons had two competitors in the 400-meter dash. Reinoso was second in heat one, finishing in 1:16.44 while senior Carolina Beverage (Taylor, Pa./Riverside Senior) was fourth (1:35.67).

Sophomore Jonquil Loeffelholz (Bellingham, Wash./Sehome) was the lone Cedar Crest student-athlete in the 5,000-meter run, completing the race in 21:27.07. The time was Loeffelholz's collegiate personal record and she broke her own school record in the event from last year (21:33.85). 

Senior Kelsee Schouppe (Stroudsburg, Pa./Stroudsburg) took eighth in the discus event with a mark of 32.33 meters, defeating multiple Division I and II athletes. First-year Bella Bozen (Lockport, Ill./Lockport Township) registered a mark of 23.34 meters.

First-year Sadie Trubilla (Coaldale, Pa./Panther Valley) finished 15th in the javelin event with a throw of 28.56 meters. Classmate Camryn Snyder (Schnecksville, Pa./Parkland) also took part in the event and had a throw of 18.47 meters.

"As a team, we took a giant step forward this weekend," said Head Track & Field Coach Jaryd Flank. "We improved upon almost all of our performances from last week and we really mixed it up with some elite level competition. I think we have the ability to really make some noise in the conference this year."

Cedar Crest will next compete at the Muhlenberg Invitational on Saturday, April 1 at 10:00 a.m.
