WEST CHESTER, Pa. – The Cedar Crest College track & field team returned to action and finished tied for 15
th at the Bill Butler Invitational, hosted by West Chester University at John A. Farrell Stadium on Saturday.
"We are seeing continued improvement each week from every member of this team," said Head Track & Field Coach Jaryd Flank. "Myself and the rest of the coaching staff believe ware are right where we need to be and couldn't be more pumped for the conference meet coming up."
The meet had a number of stand-out and season personal records on almost every single performance. First-year
Sadie Trubilla (Coaldale, Pa./Panther Valley) finished fourth in the javelin, with a mark of 32.69 meters, which is a personal record. Classmate
Camryn Snyder (Schnecksville, Pa./Parkland) also took part in the event, throwing for a mark of 23.23 meters.
Senior
Kelsee Schouppe (Stroudsburg, Pa./Stroudsburg) broke her own program record in the discus with a distance of 34.11 meters. First-year
Bella Bozen (Lockport, Ill./Lockport Township) joined Schouppe in the event and registered a mark of 28.73 meters.
Transitioning to the track, sophomore
Abril Riley (Levittown, Pa./Harry S. Truman) ran a team-best time of 14.66 seconds in 100-meter dash, followed by first-year
Olivia Wanner (Lyons, Pa./Kutztown Area) with a time of 14.74 seconds, which placed them sixth and seventh, respectively in the fourth second of the event. Senior
Joslyn Schwieterman (Portland, Maine/Baxter Academy) also competed in the event, clocking a time of 19.61 seconds.
Senior
Carolina Beverage (Taylor, Pa./Riverside Senior) took part in the 400-meter dash and clocked a time of 1:33.67, which was second place in her section.
In the 800-meter event, sophomore
Jess Simins (Phillipsburg, N.J./Warren Tech) clocked a time of 2:52.34 to take fifth place in the section.
Sophomore
Jonquil Loeffelholz (Bellingham, Wash./Sehome) paced the Falcons in the 1,500-meter run with a time of 5:50.31 to finish eighth in her section. Junior
Olivia Kelly (Medford, N.J./Shawnee) also competed in the event, finishing in 6:42.76.
First-year
Olivia Horninger (Friedens, Pa./Northern Lehigh) led Cedar Crest in the 100-meter hurdles, taking first in her section for a time of 19.37 seconds. Classmate
Gaudy Reinoso (Jersey City, N.J./Lincoln) and sophomore
Zakiyyah Sabir (Philadelphia, Pa./Philadelphia E&T) recorded respective times of 20.67 and 21.77 seconds.
In the long jump event, Horninger finished fifth in her flight with a mark of 4.26 meters. Riley followed in seventh (3.82 meters).
Heading back into the field events, Schouppe registered a mark of 10.39 meters in the shot put for 13
th place. Bozen collected a mark of 8.19 meters. Schouppe's mark was third in her flight while Bozen was 12
th.
Schouppe led the Falcons in the hammer throw event, taking tenth place with a mark of 35.40 meters. Sophomore
Heaven Bethea (Boynton Beach, Fla./South Tech Academy) tallied a throw of 20.50 meters.
Cedar Crest will next compete at the Coach P Invitational, hosted by Moravian University, on Saturday, April 22 at 10:00 a.m.
