Track & Field in Third After Day One at CSAC Championships

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Cedar Crest College track & field team sits in third place after the first day of the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) Championships, hosted by Gallaudet University. The Falcons collected 27 points.

The Falcons had three student-athletes in the 100-meter hurdle prelims. First-year Olivia Horninger (Friedens, Pa./Northern Lehigh) took fourth with a time of 19.23 seconds. First-year Gaudy Reinoso (Jersey City, N.J./Lincoln) and sophomore Zakiyyah Sabir (Philadelphia, Pa./Philadelphia E&T) finished sixth and seventh, respectively, with times of 20.60 and 20.65 seconds.

Sophomore Ellise Everett (Orlando, Fla./Lake Nona) registered eighth place in the 100-meter dash prelims, finishing in 13.85 seconds. Sophomore Abril Riley (Levittown, Pa./Harry S. Truman) was 11th (14.33 seconds) while first-year Olivia Wanner (Lyons, Pa./Kutztown Area) was just behind, clocking a time of 14.34 seconds. Senior Joslyn Schwieterman (Portland, Maine/Baxter Academy) ran the event in 19.57 seconds to round out the Cedar Crest participants.

Sophomore Jonquil Loeffelholz (Bellingham, Wash./Sehome) collected eight points for the Falcons in the 10,000-meter run, taking second with a time of 46:11.75.

Everett paced Cedar Crest in the 200-meter dash prelims, finishing sixth with a time of 28.39 seconds to qualify for the finals. Wanner just missed out on the finals with a time of 29.80 seconds, while Riley crossed the line in 30.78 seconds.

The Falcons had a pair of top-five finishers in the discus event. Senior Kelsee Schouppe (Stroudsburg, Pa./Stroudsburg) recorded a third-place finish with a mark of 30.88 meters. First-year Bella Bozen (Lockport, Ill./Lockport Township) was fourth with a throw of 30.80 meters. First-year Camryn Snyder (Schnecksville, Pa./Parkland) closed out the Cedar Crest student-athletes with a mark of 19.01 meters.

Cedar Crest took three of the top six spots in the javelin. First-year Sadie Trubilla (Coaldale, Pa./Panther Valley) led the Falcons with a third-place finish with a mark of 31.52 meters. Snyder followed in fifth with a mark of 26.84 meters, while Bozen took sixth with a throw of 23.73 meters.

Cedar Crest will finish the Championships on Sunday, May 7 beginning at 10:00 a.m.
