ALLENTOWN, Pa. – The Cedar Crest College swimming team was edged by St. Joseph's University (Long Island) in a 121-117 final on Saturday afternoon at the Rodale Aquatic Center on Senior Day. Prior to the meet, the program honored its two seniors
Megan Fiedler (Woodbridge, Va./Woodbridge Senior) and
Charlie McClain (Willingboro, N.J./Holy Cross Preparatory Academy) in a special ceremony.
The first event of the day was the 200-yard medley relay and the team of first-year
Jessica Keogh (Sellersville, Pa./Pennridge), junior
Taylor Davis (Wilmington, Del./Newark), McClain, and first-year
Erin Walsh (Philadelphia, Pa./Little Flower) took second with a time of 2:45.66.
The Falcons went two-three in the 1000-yard freestyle. Fiedler was second as she touched in 12:31.43 while McClain was third (17:24.21).
Cedar Crest had the top two finishers in the 200-yard freestyle. First-year
Rylie Heusner (Scranton, Pa./Holy Cross) won the event in a time of 2:21.72. Graduate student
Rachael Alulis (Whitehall, Pa./Whitehall) was second with her time of 2:24.33. Walsh was the other Falcon in the event and took sixth (3:08.34).
First-year
Camila Gil (Succasunna, N.J./Roxbury) won the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:09.65 while Keogh was fourth (1:48.39).
Cedar Crest had the second and third-place finishers in the 100-yard breaststroke. Heusner touched second in 1:24.77. Davis was third with a time of 1:25.90.
Gil won her second event of the afternoon as whe won the 200-yard butterfly in a time of 2:34.52. McClain was third, touching in 3:43.38.
In the 50-yard freestyle, Davis finished second in a time of 31.75 seconds. Walsh touched fourth with her time of 36.24.
Fiedler won the 100-yard with a time of 1:01.92. Keogh was fifth (1:29.44).
Alulis was the lone Cedar Crest swimmer in the 200-yard backstroke and took second with a time of 2:45.22.
In the 200-yard breaststroke, Heusner swam a time of 2:58.81, which was second place, while Davis was third with a time of 3:13.73.
The Falcons went two-three-four in the 500-yard freestyle. Fiedler was second (6:10.06), Keogh was third (8:46.42), and Walsh was fourth (8:56.99).
Cedar Crest had two in the pool for the 100-yard butterfly. Alulis touched in second with a time of 1:20.07, followed by McClain in third (1:36.53).
Gil captured first in the 200-yard IM with a program record time of 2:22.32.
The final event of the day was the 200-yard freestyle relay and the team of Fiedler, Alulis, Heusner, and Gil took first with a time of 1:55.36.
Cedar Crest (4-5 overall) with have its final tune-up before the Atlatic East Championships with a double-dual meet at Cabrini University against the Cavs and Immaculata University on Saturday, January 13 at 1:00 p.m.
