Wrestling Rolls to Victory Over Delaware Valley On Senior Night, 41-9

ALLENTOWN, Pa. –
The Cedar Crest College wrestling team rolled to a 41-9 victory over Delaware Valley University on Wednesday night inside Lees Gymnasium on Senior Night.

Prior to the match, the program honored its three seniors Draydon Charman (Vernon, N.J./Vernon Township), Adriana Dias (Bethlehem, Pa./Bethlehem Catholic), and Andrea Wilmoth (Reynoldsville, Pa./DuBois Area) in a special ceremony.

The Falcons won eight of the ten matches including six by forfeit and two by fall.

Cedar Crest began the match with forfeit wins for first-year Mary Lopes (Barnet, Vt./St. Johnsbury Academy) and sophomore Giada Smith (Springtown, Pa./Palisades) at 103 and 110, respectively to build a 10-0 lead.

The Aggies got on the scoreboard at 117 when sophomore Taylor Mazzoni (Warminster, Pa.) took down junior Leilani Martinez (Reading, Pa./Exeter Township Senior) by tech fall to make the score 11-4.

The Falcons got two more forfeit victories by first-year Andi Bibeau (Bushkill, Pa./East Stroudsburg North) and junior Alaina Stanford (Camden, Del./Caesar Rodney) at 124 and 131, respectively to increase the score to 21-4.

First-year Madacyn Snyder (Wind Gap, Pa./Pen Argyl) defeated first-year Riley Petrie (Hamburg, Pa.) by fall at 138, pinning her opponent in 1:44 to stretch the margin to 22, 26-4.

Delaware Valley won the match at 145 as junior Katie Martin (Millers, Md.) got by Dias via fall.

Cedar Crest captured the final three bouts to close out the victory.

Charman was victorious at 160 over junior Kaylee Hudson (Wilmington, Del.) by fall, pinning Hudson in just 25 seconds while sophomore Symarah Drey (Bethlehem, Pa./Liberty) and junior Sarah Seltzer (Shohola, Pa./Delaware Valley) won by forfeit at 180 and 207 to move the score to 41-9, the eventual final.

In a pair of extra matches, Martin beat first-year Samantha Goworek (Oakland, N.J./Indian Hills) via fall while Stanford defeated Petrie by fall (5:22) in the other extra match.

Cedar Crest (7-1 overall) returns to the mat at the Will Abele Invitational hosted by Ursinus College on Saturday, January 17 at 10:00 a.m.
